We all know that certain music critics and influencers and general hangers on in that industry ram down our throats certain artists and claim that they have qualities that should make us all love them or at the least appreciate their genius.
And sometimes we just don't.
I have a few on my list.
In no particular order (except the first one):
Coldplay - dreary, repetitive, tuneless nonsense, not helped by the lead singer being a bit of a pretentious bell end
Springsteen - much like the above but perhaps without the pretention
Snow Patrol - have they ever made a happy song?
Iggy Pop - who can name any song other than Passenger?
Any manufactured boy band
Any manufactured girl band
Let's build a list of bands we don't like.
Oh - Texas - probably the only band I will turn the radio off for.
Bands you are supposed to like/love but actually don't?

Re: Bands you are supposed to like/love but actually don't?
I confess that I quite liked Coldplay during the Clocks/Parachutes era, although I've not really kept up with them.
I also quite liked a lot of the dreary sounding noughties stuff - Travis etc. (which someone once described to me as 'Music to commit suicide to')
(A lot of the time it is as much about the time and place in your life as the actual quality of the music)
Might be worth a separate thread, but there's also those bands that you pretend to hate on principle, but secretly had the CD in the car at some point (again, showing my age here, although at least I didn't say tape...) - Guilty Music Pleasures - new thread anyone....?
Now, back on Graham's original topic - I'm actually struggling to find a real hated band here. I think most bands/artists that are sufficiently famous for (even) me to have heard of them, will have done something good, even if the rest of their stuff might be something that doesn't appeal. Maybe a list of SONGs that drive us nuts....?
I kind of like the one and only hit Texas had, but couldn't name anything else they did. But I can see that it might be a marmite track for Graham.
Off topic again, but the thing I don't get is why there is such unbelievable levels of interest in YouTubers - people often just doing downright stupid things and/or acting in embarrassing ways.

I have not listened to music regularly for 35 years so get exposed to things randomly.
Personal hate is Bob Dylan, but I think that is because I concentrate on the music rather than the lyrics. The Smiths was the only band that springs to mind.
