Don't be cross with him/her Christine. Someone probably invented the hamburger when they were messing about. Maybe you've got a genius in the making?

....can't my daughter function without a mobile in one hand and a laptop in the other (whilst also "watching" TV) - no wonder she's clueless about the world around her.

I'm sure she'd try to survive on air and text messages alone if given the chance

I can beat that, my niece was in her bedroom in my sister's flat and my sister was in the next room-the living room and my niece texted her rather than speak to her :(

Similar with my 16 year old (son).

Plays COD whilst texting his mates and tinkering with his iTunes and iPod account.

Mind you we do text him from the kitchen when he's in his bedroom because it's quicker than putting on the bio-hazard suit and going into his room.

Why can't it be made legal to take someone who's caused delays, (or worse another accident) by rubbernecking at a previous accident, into a field and punch them repeatedly in the face until they repeat the lines - "I will not slow down/cause accidents by rubbernecking whilst driving"

Do I allow myself to wallow in pity due to my injury? Things could be much worse. I could have fallen on my head.

can't grown ups chew gum with their mouths closed,

can't grown ups control their brats of children on airplanes - screaming, whining little objects, there should be a soundproofed area to put them in.

Glad you saved all your crabbiness for after you got on the plane. Aren't you the same guy that was telling me you could not ever sleep on an airplane?

Yep - that's me. I thought all my birthdays had come at once when I was sat in the centre bank of 4 seats, one in from the left (the left seat occupied by a nice young lady) and when the doors closed, the 2 seats to my right were unoccupied giving me the chance to sleep if I lay down - woo-hoo!. 2 hours of valiant effort failed to result in any shuteye. The whole flight was cursed by 3 kids, two rows in front. I understand the ear pain/popping can upset kids as they don't understand so when we had 10 minutes of "aaaaaaaghhhhhhhhh my eeeaaarrrrrss" I was happy to let that go. but the previous 7 hours of "IIIIIIIIII wwwwwwwwaaaaaaaaaannnnnnnnnnnttttttttt iiiiiittttttttttttttt!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" at max volume because the brats couldn't have a toy or a sweet or whatever had not only me, other passengers and the Delta staff ready to commit murder. There are times to stand your ground with kids, but for 7 hours at 35,000 feet, in the middle of the night in an aluminium (al-u-min-ium) tube travelling at 650mph - give the bloody kid what it wants if it's just a toy/sweet etc. or instill a modicum discipline beforehand that no means no.

The usual - "Chicken or Pasta sir?" When I asked "What sort of chicken or pasta?" (as there are obviously a million accompaniments/additional options and I don't want any that include tomatoes) they hadn't a clue. Turns out if they looked at the lid it would tell them - Cajun Chicken on the outbound and BBQ chicken on the inbound was the result. Nice enough though.

As a Canadian, I have been taught a strange mishmash of British and American spelling and pronounciation since childhood(color/colour) metreboard anyone--although that word is strictly speaking French. But I was always dumbfounded (gobsmacked?) when I heard a Brit say aluminium on t.v. I would ask Jenny why they add an i sound that is not in the written word. It was only recently that I realised ( not realized) that they actually spelt it the way they said it, extra i and all. What really puzzles me is why Americans pronounce roof "rough" and golf "goff".

I am American and that puzzles me too. I think it must be a regional dialect as thankfully not everyone does it.

Sounds like you have not recovered from your plane flight yet. I will not add to your distress by telling you I am eating pizza for breakfast with my fingers.
