Thanks for the timely reminder, Jon.

Fortunately I did over 10k today anyway, so that’s week 1 sorted. But then I nearly always fail on week 4, so early days…

There is a problem with the Meterboard at the moment Carole. Anyone who has done Rowlympics is not getting a Dog Days icon. I'll have a look when I get a little free time.

EDIT - This is fixed now.

How do the Dog Days icons work? Obviously we're only part way through, so no one has yet 'completed'. Will they disappear again each time a new week starts, until you have reached the required distance?

It's day 8, so into week 2 (which needs 20k). I clocked 21 today (21097 in fact..!) so I'm good for week 2. But it's always the last week that gets me...

The icons get refreshed as people start to drop off the list. I have to do this (very!) manually though. Basically, at the end of this week Concept2 will start to delete people from the list if they did not complete the week 2 target. At that point I remove all of the icons and when the Meterboard refreshes only the survivors of week 2 will have a dog. This is then repeated for week three and week four.

We have 93 people on the Meterboard with dogs right now. Expect that to drop this time next week.

I'm not optimistic about week four either by the way.

Thanks for the explanation, Jon - makes perfect sense.
And as ever, thanks also for all your hard work making all of this work.

So, everybody - you need to keep rowing to keep your dog icons!

If only you could bank your meters on this one, and get ahead to make sure.

All the very best with completing it, Jon - if you need any motivating, just let me know!

I just realised that I am spending most of week 4 in various places without a C2. I'm screwed #-o

Good luck to everyone. Keep those dogs alive!

Bowed out as bad timing to take a week off! Managed to row a messy grey session yesterday, but suffering with humidity and lack of pace.

The board has been updated and there are now 67 dogs on the board. Good luck with this week folks. I will probably complete the 30K but the 40K won't be possible with my travel plans etc.....unless I did my first ever FM with no prep at all. I don't think so!

Interesting challenge here.

I've done weeks 1 & 2 and am within 4k of week three with a couple of days to go. I'm planning an hour or so later so that should see out week 3.

My sort of plan was to continue with the steady, longer pieces until Friday (23rd) and then switch to some interval pieces in order to get a little fitter before going back to the hour etc and hopefully being a little quicker there.

Interval pieces though will be shorter and looking at my diary I have Thursday/Friday this week (assuming I get the time zones right) perhaps Saturday then Monday and Wednesday next week.

Could be a bit tight.

I've completed week 3 and am frustrated that I am going to be away for most of week 4. I am trying to work out how to squeeze in 40k in the handful of days available. I was tempted by a FM on Thursday of this week, but given I have never done one and I am recovering from a back injury, that feels foolish. I may just squeeze the distance in, but it's going to take some imagination.

Completed week 3.

I almost suggested a cheeky FM to cover your Week 4 distance in one go, Jon, but as I was rowing out the HM today, I was very glad it was not a FM, given the heat and humidity.
That said, (as someone once said), 'it is ALL about the pacing'. If you pick a nice conservative pace, and are prepared to take breaks to drink, stretch and adjust the seat, it's just a case of plodding through the distance. (You also have to have a long period of time that you can devote, which is often an issue too).

In this case, you have the challenge as your incentive, and should you have to stop early, you can complete the rest as a much shorter piece later.

That's the crux of the dog days. I managed 70K, 55K and 75K for the first three weeks, respectively. This doesn't count at all unless I manage 40K for the fourth week. I have some restrictions in the next couple of days and hope to get those 40Ks in... Mike, did you record your HM by hand? I saw you rowing meters for today on the meter board since we're right adjacent to one another. 21094 is three meters short .

Haha. The 21094 was down to a typo when entering the distance, and I didn't notice until afterwards, so had to do another 103m.

Good luck to all of the remaining dogs for week 4!

The first day of week 4 is 22 August.

I will be rowing today to make inroads into that week but all UK and European participants need to be aware of the time used by C2.

I think they use US west coast (or close thereto) time.

I've been caught out before in posting a piece in my own time zone to find that it is in a different time zone for the challenge.

Just in case therefore, I'll be rowing today but posting it in the log tomorrow.

Great :P . This has happened to me as well several times. Since then, I always look up the number (for HM and FM) to make sure they are right.

I've almost done it a few times, but this was the first time I missed it. Checking more carefully now!

That is a very impressive set of weekly results. Well done and more power to you pulling.

I'm about 12k short on week 4 but have until Wednesday to get there.
