As promised, I am just plugging away at these slowly. The “leader board” just seems to be a list rather than ranking by the way. Who will be the first Free Spirit?

Just to get them done was my original intention too, just never seems to work out like that when I sit on that seat

Not at all very active on the C2 lately, but certainly have the intention of finishing this. With 'participating is more important than winning' in mind. Yesterday finished three events, 1 min (316m), 10 min (2512m) and 30 min (7239m). Plan is a 10K today.
The pace is nowhere near the pace I had when rowing regularly in the past, but well, staying fit in other ways is also fine.

Good start Colin, hope the wine was good!

Well, ended up working until 3AM Saturday morning, so as haven't completely shaken Shingles yet and felt decidedly wierd through most of Friday delayed my start. So today had to make up for lost time (may only get 3 sessions in now!). Completely failed on 6k, but may reenter as 10' if necessary. Getting hard to hold target before halfway and HR shot up . Reviewing the trace, bizarrely HR dropped and then shot up so maybe it would have subsided a bit. Would have been sensible to finish at slower pace, but as it is the CTC, stopped. Did 1k & min then a moderate 30' in case I run out of time. Stats:

Time Distnc Rate Pace Hrmax % HRmin %
04:08.6 1,000 25 02:04.3 167 90.8% 106 57.6% - started below 2:05 target, rate creeping up by end
04:09.3 1,000 25 02:04.7 172 93.5% 167 90.8% - feeling harder
01:42.1 408 25 02:05.1 176 95.7% 164 89.1% - HR dipped then shot up, H/D
10:00 2408 25.1 02:04.6 176

00:45.6 200 32 01:54.0 DNK N/A 118 64.1% - surprisingly Ok
00:46.1 200 31 01:55.3 172 93.5% DNK N/A - Got hard in a hurry, but determined to get a score
00:46.5 200 32 01:56.3 174 94.6% 172 93.5% - Should have gone faster as HR capacity
00:46.4 200 31 01:56.0 174 94.6% 174 94.6% - Felt I was pushing hard despite pace
00:45.7 200 34 01:54.3 175 95.1% 174 94.6% - Not quite all out sprint, but got there.
3:50.4 1000 32.0 01:55.2 175 95.1% - A bit disappointed as faster in last 2 seasons, but won't be redoing for the Rowlympics!

01:00.0 294 50 01:42.0 175 95.1% 125 67.9% - equal best for 4 years. Started too slowly, think I averaged nearly 1:40 for final 15S and rating >60 for final 10S. Happy with that if technique went by wayside! Couldn't straighten legs when answering door 2 min later!

05:00.0 1,142 23 02:11.3 160 87.0% 103 56.0% - very wobbly legs so taking it easy
05:00.0 1,124 21 02:13.5 165 89.7% 157 85.3% - Some rhythm, sh/be able to finish at least
05:00.0 1,096 18 02:16.9 165 89.7% 163 88.6% - Hr on threshold, don't want DNF
05:00.0 1,116 20 02:14.4 171 92.9% 164 89.1% - pushed on from 2' in
05:00.0 1,118 20 02:14.2 173 94.0% 167 90.8% - "happy" at this pace
01:44.6 0,404 23 02:09.5 175 95.1% 172 93.5% - push to 6k
03:15.4 0,748 22 02:10.6 175 95.1% 172 93.5% - kept it going with only minor dip
30:00 6,748 20.7 02:13.4 175 95.1% - not good, but at least a score.

So 6k due in next 3 days, 10k, 2k & 20' to complete challenge!

Good to see you joining Eddie, 4 sessions on the same day is hardcore!

After yesterday's efforts in no state to do hard session this morning especially after a poor night's sleep. But needed to get it done. So 6k & 20' today. Knew from early in the warm up this was going to be below par, but gave it what I had today and glad to push away H/D Demons even if Slow Down Demon was having an effect!

Time Distnc Rate Pace Hrmax % HRmin %
04:12.6 1,000 25 02:06.3 158 85.9% 110 59.8% - shouldn't need to row R25 to maintain 2:07s, this is going to be a fight!
04:14.0 1,000 25 02:07.0 166 90.2% 158 85.9% - seeing regular 2:08s and sometimes having to push to R26 to return to 2:07
04:15.3 1,000 23 02:07.7 170 92.4% 164 89.1% - decide to slow to 2:08s and finally get some rhythm, but H/D Demons swarming
04:15.5 1,000 23 02:07.8 173 94.0% 169 91.8% - no let up, "just finish" fighting with knowledge Pete's time achievable.
04:17.1 1,000 23 02:08.6 176 95.7% 173 94.0% - time slowing down, throat rasping, pretend end of HM and accept some 2:10s
04:09.4 1,000 25 02:04.7 180 97.8% 175 95.1% - manage to accelerate with 800 to go, end in sight, manage sprint to 1:54.
25:24.0 6,000 24.0 2:07.0 180 97.8% - Jon you are safe, best possible today and no time to redo, 5S off SB.

05:00.0 1,164 24 02:08.9 166 90.2% 112 60.9% - Unsure what is achievable after above, trying to hold 2:09s
05:00.0 1,157 23 02:09.6 169 91.8% 165 89.7% - accept 2:10s more realistic, clock in slomo!
05:00.0 1,157 23 02:09.6 171 92.9% 168 91.3% - felt harder than HR suggests, determined not to slow further
05:00.0 1,175 24 02:07.7 176 95.7% 170 92.4% - nothing left when tried to push last 3 min but find a bit more but not sprint at end.
20:00.0 4,653 23.5 2:08.9 176 95.7% - one more done, no point killing myself for 20' when pace at Hr SB level!

3 days in, and I've done 6 of the 8, with only the 6k and 10k left to complete.
Not all done at pace - did 1st 4 on Saturday, using the 1k and 2k as cooldown/warmup (but I did do the 10 min and 1 min 'properly')
Definitely a participation challenge, this one. Trying to do 8 full out pieces in 8 days probably wouldn't do much good for your overall condition, as it would be likely to put most people into serious overtraining zone.
Also, it's not really possible to do a competitive leaderboard from a combination of time and distance pieces. Best you could do would be a table for the cumulative times (on the distance pieces) and another for the distances (on the timed pieces).

6 out of 8 here as well. 10K and 2K still to go. Just rowed the 1K, within half an hour of finishing the 6K so obviously not optimal, but still ok. Completing them is challenging enough for me, but who knows, I might try to get some better results when all is done.

The Meterboard icons are not working at the moment. I am away all week but will fix this when I get back home.

Torches will be duly delivered.

Congrats to all the early finishers.

I managed to fix this from the hotel room. It was a strange quirk with the way the honour board had been set up.

I'm happy to be the fourth Freespirit to complete the RowOlympics!

I fell out of the top 20 on the meterboard because of an injury on the homestead, but am back on the erg for my walk/jog paced rowing...

Congratulations.

If you change your team affiliation on the Concept2 website to Free Spirts the Meterboard will pick you up automatically (he says like it is also that smooth!). It will take some time to pick up the change. The Meterboard only updates a few times an hour.

Go to the log book. Edit profile. Affiliation.

Well done all. Nice to see that this is pushing people to SBs.

Finished my last 2 distances today, 2k & 10k, tough combo, won't get torch yet as currently 10' & 30' entered as part of longer rows, will try and get these redone Saturday. Happy to go under 8' for first time in over 3 years, but due to recent changes to nonathlon target, this is only 823 points, 2 below my target for all scoring events ](*,) , so will try and redo later in the year. 10k a struggle and slowed from intended 2:10 pace to slower than HM SB, but reasonably happy that have a decent time and don't need to redo.

Time Distnc Rate Pace Hrmax % HRmin %
01:59.9 500 27 01:59.9 164 89.1% 115 62.5% - Settled to 2:00 ahead of 2:01 target, wheels still on
01:59.7 500 28 01:59.7 174 94.6% 164 89.1% - Not sure upto R28, but no worse than I remember
02:00.2 500 28 02:00.2 177 96.2% 174 94.6% - usual tough section and many 2:01s, but sub-8 for taking
01:57.4 500 30 01:59.0 178 96.7% 174 94.6% - less response than usual to final push, only got to 1:55 R37.
7:57.2 2000 28.3 1:59.3 178 96.7%

08:38.8 2,000 23 02:09.7 169 91.8% 116 63.0% - Shouldn't be this tough, have I been too ambitious with 2:10 target?
08:39.7 2,000 22 02:09.9 172 93.5% 167 90.8% - HR as high as I would like at this stage
08:43.0 2,000 22 02:10.8 176 95.7% 167 90.8% - dropped to 2:11s as don't want to redo!
08:46.7 2,000 21 02:11.7 177 96.2% 172 93.5% - wheels hanging by a thread, can I keep going?
08:40.7 2,000 22 02:10.2 180 97.8% 175 95.1% - nothing left, 2:10.7 with 800 to go, failed to dip interval below original target.
