Nonathlon 2024/5

Post by Iain »

Site has now been set up. Sorry Peter, your filter needs setting up afresh, or do we just rely on Jon's tool now?

I'm away at the moment. I will switch the tool over when I get a chance on my return.

Peter's list is separate to the tool.

HI Jon, Nonathlon underway for 2024/5 now. I know that you are busy, but please would you change over when you have a min.

Many thanks

I tried this earlier this week Iain and for some reason the roll-over to the new season failed. I haven’t had a chance to work out why and I’m away for most of the next couple of weeks.

It's bugging me though! #-o #-o

One of the problems is that I seem to have trashed the Nonathlon section of the development environment which is where I fix things before putting them on the live website. This morning (ahead of setting off and while losing family Brownie points) I have managed to fix the development environment. So when I get home at least I will have somewhere to try to work out what is broken.

I have set up a new team filter for the 2025 season (apparently the only team filter at the moment). I tried to recall as many members as possible from last season and as of now the following are included:

bierik
chrisnew
DUCKRUNNER
EeeBeeGeeBee
ErikPedersen
fkoene
Grobi
Iain
RichLindner
s3mjc
stumpy
Torquemada

If anyone wants to be included please let me know via this thread. Remember that you have to register for the 2025 season first before you can compete in this season's nonathlon.

OK. I think I have fixed the tool now. It should be showing all of the participating rowers for this year. If you have changed your id this year then you need to let me know so that your history for previous years is linked to your user id. I have already spotted that Iain has changed from iain and Chrisnew is now chrisnew.

Let me know if you find any issues. Iain has already spotted that the colour coding for the scores on the history page is not working, and also that the count of green scores in the Metanonathlon is incorrect. Kay also spotted that a change in your lowest score is not spotted and reflected in the tool (that one is going to be tricky to fix).

Please do point out issues, it helps me to spot and sort them out (eventually).

I think I have fixed the colour coding of the scores for the history of an individual rower. As I think I mentioned previously, looking at the code, I don't think this was ever working properly.

I think I have also fixed the green counter on the Metanonathlon.

Thanks to Iain for pointing these bugs out.

Let me know if there are still gremlins lurking (other than the issue that Kay found last year where a change to a non-scoring score does not get reflected in the tool).

Eddie, I have added you to the tool as Eduardo. Have you done the Nonathlon before? If so, let me know what userid you have used previously and the tool will pick up your history.

I can't get the Nonathlon site to show times (noticed yesterday, but still the case today on another PC) Is it just me?

Hi Danno, I added you to the team filter "Free Spirits" in the nonathlon.

That works, but if I click on "show Times" in the Ranking list nothing happens rather than showing all times below points.

I‘ve never ever seen that button „Show Times“. I‘ve just tried it and it has indeed shown the times as well, so it seems to work, at least for me.

I didn't even know that was a thing. But I can confirm it also works for me as well as Kay.

What I can reproduce is that when you have two tabs open on the site in the same browser (Firefox under Linux), both not showing times, and you click on “show times“ in one of them, the times are displayed in that tab. However, a click on „show times“ in the second tab (apparently) does nothing. You have to click twice to show the times. The two tabs seem to share the state of the toggle (they habe the same phpsessid) and the last click sets the value of the state.
With Chromium under Linux I can reproduce Iain‘s problem: clicking on“show times“ does nothing. Looking at the http requests in both Chromium and Firefox, I can‘t really see any difference. Setting the user agent to in Chromium to that of Firefox doesn‘t help either.
