CTC - Carole McNally Challenge

Post by JonT »

Remember the Carole McNally challenge for CTC tomorrow (14th Feb) - 1402m (at 1k pace   )

We floated five boats last year!

Just completed it - tough going after a hard bike race :~c
Doesn't appear to be up on the CTC site yet, but I'll post later :D

Super slow but at least I remembered to do it this year - thats challenge enough for me :). Worked it into a training session

1402 done at 1.58.6 pace in 5.32.6

Next challenge to remember to check back on the ctc page to log it :)

I probably shouldn’t have done this given my ongoing bout of crapness, but I thought I’d have a crack. Unsurprisingly off last year’s pace, but better than I expected. I’ll probably feel bad for days now. I should have “own worse enemy” tattooed on my forehead!

I see the CTC site is still not showing the challenge. It was confirmed on the forum that it was running, so at some point I'm sure someone will change it over for a day.

The CTC page is live. I now realise that I didn't write the analyser to deal with a situation where we have no floating boats. Hopefully that will never actually happen!

It's all looking quite interesting at the moment. FS1 are still top of the charts and the time will improve when Lesley enters her time. I've been bumped (deservedly) to FS2 which is just lightweight men at the moment. Anyone care to help us float?

Boat 2 will be afloat when Lesley enters her time. Two rowers for the third FS boat, hopefully some more will enter times.

Gaby will have a go tonight, so three boats are doable.
Athletes row, others just play games

Coach said, "Let's do the Carole Challenge," and I did. It was the first time trial in a while. We did this kind of time trials a lot a year ago. Now it's nice to do of one them again (we were pretty close to each other, in terms of who finished the own tt first). There was also a route badge for the "Mech Isle Loop." From zone 1-3 I am very happy with my basic endurance, since just zone 4-7 was neglected, I can only be happy about this result.

Quite understandable, that you're happy with that result, Claudius. Very great row.

Started my first attempt at this but had to bail at 772m because I couldn't get any air/felt like I was suffocating. Gave myself 5 minutes and had another go with a slower start and managed a rather poor 1:58.0 average - but got it done which is the main thing. Awesome to see FS boats up there at the sharp end =D> =D>

Wow. That was quite an effort! The CTC guys seem to have been far quicker to close the challenge than they were to open it, so the final results are already locked in and we have three of the top-5 boats, holding 1st, 4th and 5th place. Amazing.

The icing on the cake is Claudius also finished first overall.

Brilliant. Well done to all who took part.

Jon

Many thanks to the whole team. You all put a great effort in. I was also surprised when I got the prompt to row a ctc again. It must have been because this is a memorial row. From our perspective, it is sometimes hard to accept when some people pass away too soon. Compassion is the essence of transience, if one is perceptive to it. So it was meant "to be" a rower for this memorial ctc.
