Erg Maintenance Seat Upper Roller

Post by jolo »

Has anyone replaced the upper seat rollers? Mine were clicking multiple times up and down the rail and no amount of cleaning would fix it.
Order a couple new top rollers from c2 and installed them this morning. (A little tricky getting the bushings and everything lined up.)
Now the seat rolls smoothly up and down the rail again. I highly recommend replacing them on older machines.

I've just looked at my machine and it says 38 million lifetime. I've often thought about changing the rollers but as they've never been a problem (apart from needing a clean), I've defaulted to the "it's not broke, so why fix it?" position. Maybe I'll buy a set just in case anything goes wrong so I'll be ok to get straight on with a repair.

The maintenance packs from C2 are very good value.
They include rollers, new bungee cord, and foot straps, for less that £100.
I've just bought 4 packs and will attempt my first "erg servicing" at the rowing club on Thursday (gulp)

How did the service go? My foot straps definitely need adjustment or replacement. Is there a way to just adjust the strap so the buckle isn’t resting in a dead spot? Other than that the straps are good.

sorry Joe, a bit late...
Servicing was "easy".
Seat rollers and straps very straight forward, the shock cord ok after carefully reading the instructions.
The straps are very easy to do, but are in a set position as there is a fixing screw that goes through the middle (at the bottom of foot plate). So no, you cant move the buckle.

Thanks Steve. I found that switching to a thicker shoe type allowed me to get the strap tighter.

New straps will be on my next c2 order though.
