Sam has sent the details of FM's November Challenge:

2000m (2m rest) 1500m (90s rest) 1000m (1m rest) 500m. (Enter total time taken, not including rests).

I think "rest" is a mis-use of the word...ugh.

Interesting follow-on from this month's challenge :-k

I reckon approach may be to hit the 2k at the same average pace of this month's, and then try to negative split a little on the next two before dying spectacularly on the 500m!

That's roughly what I was thinking Mat.

But also joining in with the general "urg" sentiment.

I went with the same start pace as last month (5k-2) and then aimed for negative splits.

No appetite to do this again.

Good workout for some positive mind games though. “2k is hard but you get the longest rest now” “500m into second interval and already half way to the end” “the next interval is shorter”. None of these made it feel any better though!

Didn't particularly like this one, surprisingly enough, so I don't know whether there will be a second attempt this month.

Nice work Plummy, Jon and Fred =D> =D>

Sat down to have a first go at this today. Intended a sub-max attempt but in the end I got carried away. Not sure whether I can face doing this again later in the month!!

I feel queezy just looking at those HR readings. Fortunately, my belt dropped out ahead of my attempt so I won't know if I peaked anywhere near that:

I've a feeling that 181 must have been a bit of a blip and certainly not a sustained rate. I'm sure that the PM simply records the instantaneous HR at the end of the split. I don't recall seeing over mid 170's in many years! That second rep did sting a bit though

Great performance Ian =D> =D>

Great row there Mat =D> I was also wondering about those 181 bpm after rep #2, but that must have been a faulty measurement.

Sat on the Erg for a pre warmup for a 1 hour Zwift session decided the CTC would probably be more enjoyable so did that instead. All went well until I tried to load the time into the CTC site over an hour later and still won’t let me log in, is Dougie still the guy at the CTC ?

Colin, that's a bummer you couldn't log your result. Dougie is still the person to ask.

Btw, you do know of sites like picresize etc.? :fswink:

Hi Peter how are you, long time no see matey, re the pic resize question why do you ask is the image oversized or something looks OK my end. I’m really having problems can’t even log into the c2 forum let alone the CTC site. I think an old defunct email address may be the cause.

Colin,

Yes the image is huge when viewed on the web, but is fine when viewed in Tapatalk. If you are posting via Tapatalk, select small as the image size.

In terms of the C2 forum. I have been on the forum and posted you a private message. The notification should turn up at whatever email address you have used to register there. Failing that you will have to reregister using a new email address and userid. I can see you were last on that forum on 25/1/18.

Are you 'colin bradley' on the c2ctc site?

Hi Colin, good to see you back on the erg and rowing the ctc for Fre Spirits =D>

If the problem is a lost password for the ctc site you can send Dougie a PM on the C2 forum asking for a password reset (supposed you can log into that forum).
If you can't log into the C2 forum as well I could ask Dougie on your behalf.

Great to see you back on the erg Colin. I’ve been toying with the idea of making a comeback (of sorts) and have managed to lose a bit of weight lately, which has resulted in a lessening of the amount of lower back pain I have to deal with. I might even give it a go this afternoon.

Not the CTC, mind you. Maybe a gentle 10 minutes or so to see how my back holds up. If I’ve no adverse reaction, I might even try to build up to doing the CTC before month end.

Precisely Mat the zwift session would had been 60 mins at threshold and probably taken 2-3 days recovery at least.
