I think we have until coming friday to decide whether we want one team or two. In the latter case two people would need to swap from "Free Spirits" to "Free Spirits 2". Any takers?

I've just sent a message to my brother to see if he'd like to join FS2 to make up the numbers

EDIT
Just heard back... he's going to register and get a 4' time in this week, so that'll be 7 in the FS2 team

Thanks Kevin. Sending wishes for a speedy recovery.

With Kevin's score we have filled FS1 completely and I can see FS2 scores starting to come through. =D> =D>

I'm glad the IRL starts with just 4 mins. According to the C2 log, I've managed 7 rows in the last 4 months and two of those were this week! Luckily, for 4 mins, it really is possible to just close your eyes and pull like a dog (to quote those inspirational Cork lads). So my time is in for FS2. It would be great if we can fill the FS2 boat - as it really does provide an incentive to keep rowing through the darkest days of winter. Thanks to all who have been talking people in to joining this boat!! Cheers, Louise.

Well done Louise and thanks for putting in a score =D> I think I persuaded Gaby to have a go (we'll know if I was successful by month's end :D ). I'm considering to swap to FS 2 to level out the number of participants a bit.

It would be 9/7 then for FS/FS 2. Maybe one more could swap in case Mat's brother can't join?

That's great news Mat, thanks for recruiting your brother. I'm moving to team 2, so we now have nine rowers in each team:

Inge just entered her score, team Free Spirits 2 is only 107m behind team Free Spirits and Gaby is yet to enter her score. This could turn into an interesting friendly battle :fswink:

Ow that hurt, inspired by what appeared to be a small gap to free spirits 1 did a couple of 4 min warm ups targeting a 2:00 split with the intention of finishing in a blaze of 1000m glory.
Result utter failure, :( sorry guys and gals promise to do better next time.
It was good fun thou I think.

The results are in with FS2 in 8th and FS in 10th. Well done all, especially the FS2 team. Looks like we have a competition on our hands.

Next event is the sprint over 1-mile (1609m). Good luck everybody. It’s great to have two boats in the field .

Just a gentle reminder to put in a time for this month. We currently have 3 our of 8 entries in Boat 2 and 2 out of 9 entries in Boat 1. I intend to get mine done over the weekend.

Nice one Colin :D =D>

I’d decided that today was the day to give it a go, then woke up and questioned that decision :?
Nevertheless, after a brief warm up I figured that it’s only around 160 strokes and I should just get on with it.

With some encouragement from Grobi sitting right by my side in the last 650m (he said "almost there" with 650m to go!! If I'd had the energy left I would have slapped him ;-) ) I managed to slice another 13.4 seconds off my previous time, so pulled it down to 6:21.3 (SB last season was 6:15.6 so not that shabby all things considered).

As Peter is in FS2 I shall be suggesting that he HD's with 200 to go
