Captain Nag here
We are currently three rowers short of a full boat in FS1 and two rowers short of a full boat in FS2. Just five days remaining folks.

Re: Indoor Rowers League 2022-23
Considering that a poor score is better then no score I just wanted to finish the distance today. Had no idea what I was capable of so took it kind of slow.
Finished in 6:19.5. When I find time the next couple of days I should be able to go faster then that.
One more seat filled at least in FS1.

Re: Indoor Rowers League 2022-23
Been dealing with too much stuff at work and a bit of general mental malaise... came back from 25 day hiatus and logged the mile. Luckily this was my weakest entry previously (7:10 -- so a 2:13 avg pace), so I easily was able to achieve my goal of establishing a new PR with a 5:55.8 time. Nothing super special (my PR 2k + 0.5 second pace), but it's in the log.

FS1 is now full. FS2 is two rowers short of a crew of 8 at the moment.
Thanks to all who have entered a time.

Re: Indoor Rowers League 2022-23
Let’s hope we can get these two final rows in FS2
Anyone able to give a couple of rowers a friendly nudge??

Thank you and well done Louise! Am I spotting an end heart rate of 175 there?

Re: Indoor Rowers League 2022-23
I don’t think quite 175, but def an indication of unfitness. I didn’t dare look. One of those rows where I just stared at the pace and tried to block the world of pain out Must get off the couch more!

Re: Indoor Rowers League 2022-23
Well done all. We got there in the end. As things stand (and as far as I can see in the quite opaque data on the site) FS1 is 8th and FS2 is 9th after the second round.
Next up is 6344m - I can never remember why this distance is part of the rotation.

Re: Indoor Rowers League 2022-23
This distance refers to britisch mountaineer Joe Simpson. On the descent from the peak of Siula Grande in Peru together with his climbing partner Simon Yates he fell and broke his leg.
The Indoor Rowers League is basically a copy of the former C2 challenge series, run by C2 Uk until 2013 (I think). C2 UK chose this distance because Joe Simpson used the C2 rowing machine for his recovery.
Siula Grande is 6344m high, hence the distance.
If you want to learn more, he wrote a book about it („touching the void“): https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Touchin ... oid_(book)

I sense an easy PB on the 6344 distance. Hahahaha.

I ask this every year and then instantly forget. Thanks for helping me to remember.

Re: Indoor Rowers League 2022-23
I remember listening to Joe Simpson talk at a conference many years ago. I’d had a fair few drinks the night before so was already feeling a bit delicate. His detailed explanation of his injuries almost caused me to throw up!!

Re: Indoor Rowers League 2022-23
Had my first go at this awkward distance last night with the aim of reaching last year's time (24:58.6 / 1:58.1), so basically stay below 25 minutes. This is how it went:
I think I got the pacing right, not too much left in the end for a finish sprint. Happy with an improvement of 10 seconds over last year's attempt

Re: Indoor Rowers League 2022-23
Comfortably under that 25’ Peter
I took an early shot at this one too, and found it deceptively tough… those extra 1344 on top of the usual 5k made a huge difference. Almost put the handle down with around 1500 to go, but started up again and dug in to the end. Splits much more erratic that I’d like. May have to do this one again later in the month…

Re: Indoor Rowers League 2022-23
Yes, HRM is proving a little erratic atm
Sub 23’ should be do-able I would hope, but time will tell It’s an extra 1s/500m so not exactly easy, but I’ll give it a shot

Re: Indoor Rowers League 2022-23
Nothing special here - it’s a good indication of the decay I get for taking a month off…
Will try it again in the final days of the month… however “new PB at this distance!!” Ha!

Re: Indoor Rowers League 2022-23
An early entry this month, wanted to see whether a sub 2 min pace was possible, made it to 25:14.2, pace 1:59.3.
And room for improvement.

Re: Indoor Rowers League 2022-23
Nice early row - the sub 2 was my goal, too. I'll give it a shot again later -- my PB for 5k is 1:56.9 pace and for the 30minute is 1:58.8, so I'd be happy with anything in between.
