Well done all on keeping the boats afloat. I am making a tentative return to rowing and will try and complete as many of the many ones as possible, albeit cautiously as the hip is not 100%

Trying to make this season the season of the PB!

My first January IRL entry as well today. 339 meters, which is 4 meters less then 2 years ago. Who knows, perhaps I can get closer to that later this month.

Ahoy mateys, Captain Nag at your service.
With just over a week remaining, FS1 have 7 out of 9 seats filled (just one more needed to be afloat) and FS2 have just 4 seats filled at the moment. Given it is just a 1:00 row I'm sure we will get the distances logged before the end of the month.

Re: Indoor Rowers League 2022-23
I can row a minute, no problem (although it won't be competitive). My issue is still that I'm above the 75kg limit for LWT and therefore it won't be a legitimate LWT row. What to do??

Plummy, if Felton rows we have a crew of 8 in FS1, so you could leave it until the last minute (excuse the pun), or alternatively you can change your weight classification on IRL and then enter your time. I’m not sure what happens to your previous scores at that point though.

Re: Indoor Rowers League 2022-23
Managed to post my first one since September, FS2 has another one on board. 289m, not anywhere near a pb, but happy to have been able to do something this month. Keeping things crossed can do the rest

Trying to make this season the season of the PB!

Well done Chris.
FS1 still needs at least one more rower to complete the crew of 8. FS2 needs two more. 4 days to go folks!

Re: Indoor Rowers League 2022-23
I've mailed the IRL team for advisement. That said, I'm going to change my classification to HWT so my "effort" today will be legitimate. My scores are hardly breath-taking for previous rounds so if I get bumped to HWT for previous rounds I can't see it making too much of a change

Got an answer re changing weight to HWT from LWT and it affecting previous scores:

Needed a target so who better than our own Philip Price @ 277m
Did it, but only just @ 279m that was a bit of a shock to the system.

Captain Nag is delighted to announce that we have two floating boats again this month with eight out of nine seats filled in both. As I write the boats are positioned 6th and 7th for the month.

Managed a score of302m which was pretty hellish especially as I'd just done the CTC about 3 minutes earlier

Felton H - M 42 82kg

Re: Indoor Rowers League 2022-23
I had it in my head that January was 2k, and after a bout of COVID I’ve had a couple of failed attempts at that distance. Checked the FS website last night in the hope I’d find the boat was already full (it was!) only to discover the target was 1 min
Doh! I lost a month somewhere… It’s also really great to know that 10k is another month away

Three minutes rest before one minutes effort....nope, not seeing a problem there at all

Well done for filling the boat Felton.

Re: Indoor Rowers League 2022-23
Entered the first FS1 result for February. Nowhere near my season's best but it was after a previous attempt during this session and a failed CTC (I had entered one hour for the last interval instead of one minute, so I decided not to finish that one after seeing there were still 59 minutes and 57 seconds to go).
Wanted to finish at least something today so went for a bit slower 2K. Finished in 7:37.3 (over 10 seconds slower then my SB).

And the second one already. Aiming somewhere between last week's result and my SB. Scale tilted more towards my SB (but still 4 seconds slower), so pretty satisfied with it. Time was 7:29.5

Re: Indoor Rowers League 2022-23
We are into the second half of the month, so time for Captain Nag to make an appearance. We have four seats filled in FS1 and two seats filled in FS2. I will definitely enter some sort of time for FS1, but it won't be special.

OK fellow members of FS1. I really am struggling health wise at the moment. I intend to put in a time but it will be terrible. If we could fill eight seats on top of mine that would be fantastic.

I'll get one in, Jon. Hope your health improves quickly!! I'm slowly trying to recover some fitness after being away from rowing for 3+ weeks while traveling.

Re: Indoor Rowers League 2022-23
I hope you recover soon, Jon.
Since this is mst probably my last ERG day this month I wanted to present a better time here then my SB. First attempt was not succesful, waited a couple of minutes and started a bit slower, now more with the intention to row a better time then my previous IRL result.
First two splits were slower then last time, but felt good for the last K and finished in 7:23.6, which is exactly 2 seconds faster then my SB (so I made it after all) and about 6 sec faster then my previous IRL.
Splits were 1:52.3, 1:52.6, 1:51.5 and 1:47.3
Satisfying result after all so I can leave my C2 alone now for the rest of the month.
I hope the rest won't, with at least 10 more seats that need to be filled in FS1 and FS2 combined.

Sorry to hear you’re not well Jon, and best wishes for your recovery
Fred - good, well controlled final row with a great final 500
I girded my loins this morning for the first 2k in anger in what must be around a decade! No real idea of current ability but felt sub 6:50 was achievable so I decided to go out at 1:43, and hold it there until I felt I could sprint for the line!
Happy with the result

Very nicely executed 2k there Mat! It looks like you enjoyed yourself while doing this, maybe you should row a 2k more often than every ten years?
