That’s fantastic Louise - it can’t have been easy to go for that distance after being off the Erg due to injury. Thanks you and well done

Re: Indoor Rowers League 2022-23
Hi all, sorry to have gone AWOL and not getting the rows done. Hip injury has meant no rowing and not likely for a while longer. At best I may do some arms only work and will see how that goes. Some amazing efforts for IRL and sorry can not contribute at the minute

Trying to make this season the season of the PB!

If I am not mistaken, FS1 came 5th and FS2 7th in November. Great effort all
The next distance is the 5K over the Christmas break. Nonathlon points on offer for those who participate in that too.

Re: Indoor Rowers League 2022-23
I put in an early not very fast one, but at least that’s a seat in FS2 in the bag in case my back seizes up again. If it doesn’t, maybe I’ll get a bit faster by the end of the month… it’s not a rowing issue - it’s from sitting in front of a screen for hours on end - but when it’s painful, I can’t row at all! Damn this having to work for a living

Thank you for the early score Louise
Could you get a height adjustable desk for work? I really enjoy standing at my desk from time to time.

Indoor Rowers League 2022-23
I was actually looking forward to this, and was pretty confident I would get an easy SB and some Nonathlon points. It turned out to be surprisingly horrid.
The aim was to row as close to 2:00 pace at 90% max HR and sprint at the end if possible. The 90% was gone by the end of 1K and I just hung on from them. The HD demons were many and vocal.
It is done now and I got a huge haul of 7 points for the Nonathlon as reward for the pain.
We are half way through the month (more or less) and we have both boats half full (more or less). Don’t leave it too late folks. All that sherry and port is not going to help one bit

Good of you to finish it anyway, Jon. And now you can have another try later this month, in case you might get bored.

Re: Indoor Rowers League 2022-23
Well done Jon and Louise

My turn this morning and a quick word to the wise… if you find that it’s somewhere around -2 in the gym as you sit on the Erg, don’t assume that “I’ll get warmer as I go along”
Post warm-up I was still cold but took off my sweat shirt. By the end of the 5k, I still couldn’t feel my feet and the tops of my fingers were numb. I’m sat here now with steam rising from any exposed part of my body!!
But… 5k done and even a second or so faster than just a few weeks ago

Re: Indoor Rowers League 2022-23
Halfway through my 10K, I noticed that my 5K time was a mirror of itself (19:59.1), so I went ahead and recorded it for the IRL - hopefully just a placeholder.
Mom went into the hospital on 11/26, passed on 12/14 and her funeral is Wednesday, so I've been stretched pretty thin for awhile as healthcare advocate and now grieving son/executor of her estate with 5 beneficiaries keeping me on my toes. Point being, I'm not sure between my 200K goal in the Holiday Challenge, the dreaded sprint for the CTC and they holidays et al, I don't know that I'll circle back around to it.

I’m sorry to hear your news Ron. Hopefully an occasional row will be a welcome break from everything you are dealing with right now.

Re: Indoor Rowers League 2022-23
Captain Nag signing in again.
With just over a week to go, and the Christmas break coming up, we have 4 empty seats in both FS1 and FS2.
Thanks to everyone who has already put in a time.

Three days remaining. We have 6 seats filled in FS1 and 5 filled in FS2. Fingers crossed we manage to fill the boats before the New Year festivities begin.

Re: Indoor Rowers League 2022-23
Even after that hurtful 500M sprint for the CTC, I managed a decent 2nd attempt at this month's 5K with a 19:42.6 - just a few seconds away from my PB.

Re: Indoor Rowers League 2022-23
Having come down with norovirus after Christmas wasn't sure I was going to recover in time but managed 19:53.2 today without killing myself - new years resolution to row a bit more in 2023. Happy New Year everyone

I’m not well but fear not I will get the 5k and the 500m done before midday it won’t be anywhere near speedy for me but it will get at least one boat afloat Happy New Year everyone

Re: Indoor Rowers League 2022-23
Thanks for all of the effort resulting in us having two boats with eight or more seats occupied. A special thanks to all of you who are ailing at the moment, or just returning from holidays/injuries/both. We ended the month with nine out of nine seats filled in FS2 and eight filled in FS1. FS2 finished 7th in the December event with 92.11 points, with FS1 just behind them with 91.25 points.
The January event is the super-sprinty 1 minute event. Not my cup of tea, but at least it is all over very quickly. Just watch those backs!
Good luck all, and thanks for the efforts in what looks like it was a tricky month for many of us.
