February ctc - 3 x 1 mile / 3’r
Hi all,
roeing club Mantova have announced the ctc for February:
„3 x 1609 metres rest 3 minutes. No restrictions.“
I like the sound of that one

Only the second day in the competition and we already floated a first boat
Is it just me or does anyone else have problems entering the score on a mobile device (Iphone SE2, IOS 15.1)?

Yes, Peter, I also struggle on iOS devices, both iPhone and iPad. Looks like the fields that normally open the drop-down selections don’t work with the latest Safari browser.

A some what better performance this month. Fitted in early in a week I got the normal training done early so had a crack.
19.45.7 or av 2.02.8 - happy with that.
or alternatively each 1609 took this long
6.38.1
6.35.2
6.32.4

I didn't feel that these were "sprinty" at all as they seemed to go on forever

Going to have to agree with Dave here - it felt more like a long slog than a sprint.
Set the DF to my training level - 300, which in retrospect was too high for this sort of interval workout.
At least I managed to beat my 2:00 ave goal, and probably made Erik have another go
Times were :
Leg 1 - 6:26.9 spm 26
Leg 2 - 6:22.6 spm 26
Leg 3 - 6:22.2 spm 27

True, and fair enough. I'm usually doing something 30+ minutes when on the rower these days, so anything 2K or less feels much more sprinty than I'm used to.

Re: February ctc - 3 x 1 mile / 3’r
Deceptively long intervals this month!
Happy with my starter for 10 though. Planned to simply go sub 1:50, but managed a 1:48.5 average pace (1:48.5, 1:48.8, 1:48.2)
Hoping that as the training intensity picks up a bit and with a regular 3 session pw on the erg I can improve a little by month end

Good spot Erik - leg 1 was in fact 6:25.8 - maybe I did get more brain damage than I thought

Re: February ctc - 3 x 1 mile / 3’r
Well done on those 12 seconds improvement Erik That will give Paul something to think about
I had my fourth go at this last night. My previous effort was 18:02.6 / 1:52.1, so exactly seven seconds behind boat FS I and a certain Mr. Tako So the target pace was set and this is how it went:
This was no fun at all I can tell you, especially the final rep was ugly. But I am very happy with my - certainly short lived - seat in boat FS I. I still can't believe I made it and share a boat with Mat while I'm writing this, so I'm enjoying it while it lasts (e.g. until Tako, Fred, Steve, Crushy etc. have a serious go ).

Great efforts so far Peter: strong negative split !
i was just thinking of skipping this month, it's a workout i don't really like to do.... but, after having a mile run effort (5:25 on a treadmill - you are faster on a treadmill than outdoors), I had this idea: pace all intervals like the mile run.... i guess at least the last one will be a fly and die!

Happy to be of service.
No worries, I won’t have another go, as it doesn’t fit my training plan. Was happy enough to get an okay score in without being told off by my coach

Re: February ctc - 3 x 1 mile / 3’r
Had my bash today.
Still feeling the effects of covid with a chesty cold, so knew Peter and Tako were out of reach. Next target was Fred and 1:53 seemed a good strong target to go for...
1 - 1:52.7/26/168 hard work, but despite the high hr it actually felt ok
2 - 1:52,6/26/174 ah, quite a bit harder and hr now having an effect
3 - 1:53.7/26/178 first 600 was on target, but I had to drop back to 1:58 or so. Managed to quicken a little in final 300, which resulted in pipping Fred by leas than 1s. Sorry Fred.
