Dragged myself back to the shed to complete the 1min for IRL. Went better than I expected, given that I've done very high (for me) volumes of low intensity this month.
Aim was to be at 1:30, but managed to get ahead, and by half way I could tell that I wasn't going to blow, so upped the rate and got down to 1:26 for most of the second half, to come in on 340m.
Should really have been quicker, but was so hard to know where to pace it, and the 'preparation' wasn't ideal...

Well, I can only describe the 2K as "character building". I'll not be repeating this

Very evenly paced Louise, well done! What is your max heart rate?

Thank you Peter!
What is your max heart rate?
It has never hit 170 before  I was slightly surprised to see that so early. A tingly feeling in my muscles after about 500 m alerted me to the fact I might have set off a bit ambitiously! I never row this distance so I just guessed a pace...
Like I said: character building

On. the plus side, I’d never have started at that pace if I’d known how much it would hurt, but now I have the satisfaction of having done it :D

Well done for hanging on Louise! You peaked pretty early by the looks of it. At least you know what your benchmark 2K time is now

So you basically rowed at your max heart rate for eight minutes  This must be a PB then?

I think my face probably looked like that emoji ( ) for at least six of those minutes Peter
I was spurred on by the thought that if I finished, I wouldn’t have to do it again (until next year’s IRL anyway  )

That is a very clever (yet painful) approach Louise! Unfortunately I wasn't as clever when I had my first go last night:

In hindsight I started off too slowly (although it certainly didn't feel that way) and couldn't make up in the finish sprint for what I had lost in the beginning. I guess I'll have to have another go

I had a gentle 30 mins row planned for last night but got bored after 15 minutes and decided to have another go at the 2k (I must be mad to swap a gentle 30 mins for a 2k  ). The plan was to start out around last time's pace and then see if and how I can speed things up a little. This is how it went:

another 2k.JPG

I kept my powder dry for the first 800m, then managed to get a little bit quicker in the following 400m. With 800m to go I was still 1 second away in pace compared to last time, so high time to start pulling harder. With 400m to go I was still 0.3 seconds slower in pace, let's open the hurt box now. Happy with finally going below 7:20, maybe I'll have another go.

Well that hurt. Proper time trial for me. Nowhere near last year, but there was nothing in the tank at the end.

6 seats filled. 2 more needed to keep our record of filling a boat each month.

At the moment, with Chris doing his session on Monday we will still be a seat short of a full boat. Kevin? Mike? [-o< [-o<

All done, nowhere near PB pace, 16 seconds outside it, but done at about 85% due to the focus on run training. Happy to have got the time in the end

Entry for 2k times is still open this morning Mike if you managed to get one done. We have 8 seats full, so no worries if not.

I did indeed manage to get the 2k in this morning at 7am after work prevented it last night.
I somehow managed to find a marginal SB (albeit against a fairly weak previous time), so my Nonathlon even moved slightly after 9 months+ of being static too.
I think I managed to get the fastest unadjusted FS time, and even be within sight of the Awesome Philip Price (and you) after the adjustment.
