Stealing an idea from the radio this morning.
Three songs needed.
"Mind" should be a song that makes you think or satisfies some sort of logical process in your head. Perhaps challenging lyrics or complex chords and melodies?
"Body" is something that you want to move to (or not move to) but which speaks to the physical side.
"Soul" is just something you feel. Peace, calm, joy, sorrow, wistful, angry, whatever. No sensible reason needed just something you feel.
If we get enough I'll put them into a playlist on Spotify.

Nice one Graham.
I'll start with some mainstream choices ...
Mind - Wish You Were Here / Pink Floyd
Body - Thunderstruck / ACDC
Soul - Oye Como Va / Santana

Re: Mind, body and soul - a musical journey
In terms of "mind", I've always been fascinated by lyrics that are clever in terms of how the writer sees things.
Complex lyrics from the likes of Paul Simon, Red Hot Chillies, Eminem, Nine Inch Nails. Reserving the right to change my mind, for the moment I'm going for
Wedding Day by The Airborne Toxic Event.
Listen hard. The song is actually about a wedding party in Afghanistan which was bombed in an air strike.
Body is more difficult. The only thing worse than my dancing is my singing so a lot of the tunes that make me want to move around are listened to on my own. I'm going for however:
Make it Bun'dem by Skrillex and Damian Marley (yes- related).
Soul really depends on how I feel. At the moment life for me and my family is relatively stressful and I'm seeking solace in some quiet and gentle stuff.
Rivers and Roads by The Head and the Heart
With the exception of "body" I'd not want to row to the others.

I do seem to recall Mr Gould being a long haired head banger and the music choice confirms that.
(Well aware that the long hair days are well in the past!)
Wolfie, as you said mainstream. Don't worry - nobody's listening so expand your horizons!

Graham, I will have to bring your powers of recall into question here
I've never been in a mosh-pit my entire life, I went to the army to grow my hair, and none of my choices are headbanging tunes - other than that , your assessment is spot on

Do I remember Paul that the Dropkick Murphys used to appear on some of your playlists.
Our eldest son lives in Boston now and two years ago went to see them at the home of the Boston Bruins (ice hockey) for a St Patricks Day gig.
Looking at his video it was just an insane gig.

Maybe I was being a bit unfair to you Graham - I did indeed used to listen to a lot of DKM and am very jealous that you have seen them live.webberg wrote: ↑Thu Sep 10, 2020 5:27 pm Do I remember Paul that the Dropkick Murphys used to appear on some of your playlists.

I still have them and some Viking metal stuff on my rowing MP3 but really enjoy what I suppose you could call Alt Country.
