Forum software now updated: Better mobile experience + emojis
Update 7th June:
The forum software is now updated. Post a reply if any problems come up.
===============
I just tried to update the forum software.
It was a total fail...
The new version allows the use of emojis so is worth getting. I will try another day.

Re: Updating forum software
Another go tonight, another fail.
May have to go back to total vanilla installation with no custom header
I also noticed that image attaching is not working. Anyone else seen that?
This is turning in to a can of worms
Later: the attachment was a simple fix. Woo hoo.

Re: Updating forum software
It may be an update, but it doesn't seem like a very good upgrade!
I also noticed the last couple of days that Chrome is giving me warnings about the site not being secure all of a sudden. Related?

Re: Updating forum software
The site never was secure - it doesn't run on https and I think that is a standard chrome message for http sites. Buying a certificate is not going to happen!

Re: Updating forum software
I have found the solution and was not alone with the problem. I will attempt another update once I have got the look and feel working properly.

Re: Updating forum software
The update is complete. The changes in the new version are described here: https://www.phpbb.com/about/launch/ but is mostly making it more secure and mobile friendly I believe.
It certainly is way better in my phone. Apparently we can have emojis now .
As usual, post on this thread if you see anything weird or not working.

It seems that the handclap smiley isn't shown correctly?

This is a known bug with smileys that have > or < in them and is fixed in the next release: https://tracker.phpbb.com/browse/PHPBB3-14985

Re: Forum software now updated: Better mobile experience + emojis
Hello!
I tried to change my national Flag to 666 or DNK but it doesn't show any difference in the Meter board.
In the Signature I added the PB image with the Img tag, so I have to update the link each time when I add a SB, is this the intended way to do it?
Even when I just joined free spirit, I use the pace predictors for years, that thing is pure gold!
regards
Ralf

Hi Ralf - yes, re the SB/PB signature, you have to update it manually each time (or at least I do anyway!)

Did you change it via web browser on mobile or PC?RdGkA wrote:I tried to change my national Flag to 666 or DNK but it doesn't show any difference in the Meter board.
When changing it while logged in via PC web browser and then going to the Meterboard while logged it, it normally works for me.

I used Firefox under Windows10, the code is still in the profile, but the flag does not change in any browser.

Re: Forum software now updated: Better mobile experience + emojis
DNK is the correct code for Denmark but it is not making it through to the meterboard. No idea why at this stage, but I manually updated it for you.
I also found that the meterboard is screwing around when people have an apostrophe in their name and has probably been doing this for years I will follow up on that on the meterboard thread.

Re: Forum software now updated: Better mobile experience + emojis
I can change my flag at will by changing the code and refreshing the meterboard. Please could you try that and report back to me on the meterboard thread?
Try ENG or something, but 666 should work too, so not sure why it is not. I may have actually just inadvertently fixed it when working on the apostrophe issue though.

Just to note that the above are all fixed.
