As mentioned in the Carole McNally thread itself: amazing the FS participation on Feb 14. 27 participants on a total of 87 (89 according to the list but I think two of them entered their times on the wrong sheet).

A considerable number of participants again, in February. Less then January, but more then any month last year.
Matthew and Vernon are still in the lead. Nice first CTC's by Vernon...
Congrats to Sheena, she's rowed fifty of them now, Peter Tullett: 170. Great.
And I also want to mention: Plummy, by having entered a score in the March CTC already: he has rowed his 200th CTC. Marvelous ^O^ ^O^ ^O^

For those who haven't rowed this month yet (including myself): have fun those 30 minutes. They're over before you know it...

Not rowing yourself makes it far too easy to postpone entering last month's results in the board.
At last I've entered the scores of the last three months.
Notice: the column with the previous positions reflects the positions of February, not those of April. This way it's a bit more spectacular... Half of the February top 10 dropped out of it.

I won't go through all the lifetime achievements, though I reckon Plummy's #200 of March deserves another round of applause ^O^ ^O^
It looks like April's CTC was a bit too complicated, with only sixteen entries.

Personally I won't be joining this month's challenge yet, I've been operated upon two weeks ago and have to take it easy for at least four more weeks. Walking is the only thing I'm allowed to do so far, so that keeps me hopefully a tiny bit fit this period.

Good luck with the June challenge :fswink:

FIve new entries this month, three of them completely new to the FS CTC team. Welcome Rachel, Rob and Roberet.

Matthew still going massively strong, congratulations to Lesley, rushing up to #4.
Good luck with the July challenge. Hopefully with Claudius participating :fswink:

Twenty-six participants this month, including myself after a couple of months absence.
Spidermac's first this year. Welcome back to the CTC-team :fswink:

Peter Tullett finished his 176th, Philip his 150th. Congratulations to both.

Enough has been said about slides and so on, but still it's a pity I think to only grant 100 points to Claudius. However, the choice is up to you of course. That's my last mentioning this.

The top eight remains the same, on #9 Mike has re-entered the top 10 and Clare now completes the top 10, one point ahead of Plummy. Lesley is well on her way to the top 3 after missing the Valentine challenge.

Good luck with this month's eights.

Welcome in the CTC, JBH :fswink:
Twenty-five entries this month, very evenly spread over five floating boats. Not a bad month considering the scores. As far as I see the best #1, #2, #3 and #4 position this year.
With Matthew a bit out of reach for now, the 'battle' for the second place is close.

Good luck in September, have fun with considerable amount of 2 min rows.

A bit late again, I have been on holiday, and didn't want to spent too much time behind a laptop overthere.
September counted 28 participating Free Spirits. A few more then the months before.

Lesley climbed to #2, great, and IIngrid entered the top 10. I think these are the most remarkable results this month.

And there's a nice competition going on for #5. Liefcat and Jon are very close.

Good luck with October, which is coming to an end already.

The October scores are online.
There is quite a gap between Mat and #2. But numbers 2, 3 and 4 are extremely close, with Peter climbing from 4 to 2 this month. Congrats, Peter.

25 participants, and all on board. Nice.

Good luck in November.

The top 3 was all in boat 1, so no changes there. Jon made it to #5, let's see who has the best 500m. Mat is pretty sure of his first position, you can take it very easy on that 500m, Mat. Somehow I don't think you will.

25 participants, just like last year. One shiny new participant, Barbara G. The name implies female, the L behind her name male. Who am I to change the C2CTC entry.

Up to now 8 people have rowed every challenge. Plummy already entered a score for December, so he's ready. Good luck to all the others. 500m, over before you know it. But while doing it it can be soooo painful.

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/ ... sp=sharing

And by the way, a couple of years back there was a discussion about the points. What if a FS boat would rank at position 101 or lower. This month it's the first time that situation occurred, due to a lot of Diamonds participating. I have given boat five 100 points each. I think next year a new counting algorithm would be in place. Any suggestions?

Barbara (like Gaby and Ingrid) is a member of my otw rowing club. She is a female lightweight. Why were you thinking she is male?

I donβ€˜t think the ctc makes a gender difference for leightweights. Correct me if I’m wrong, but I think the boats a filled with

3 heavyweights (regardless the gender)
1 lightweight (regardless the gender)
1 female (regardless the weight)

?

Hi Peter,

I thought C2CTC only had the categories F for female, L and H for light or heavy weight men. Didn't think there was a difference between light and heavy weighted females. But perhaps that was never necessary because of the smaller number of FS ladies participating.

As for the motivation you get from this board: seems to work well for you, looking at your results.

And the winner is: Matthew Leonard. By far. Congratulations Mat, it doesn't come as a surprise. The top 9 hasn't changed in December. Ron sneaked into the top 10.
Four new participants this month, one completely new, welcome Christian. And a special welcome back for Paul V, who rowed his 151th CTC, the first one since June 2021. Good to see you back again.

The large number of participating Diamonds has for the first time caused the problem of an FS boat below number 100. So the normal points couldn't be given. What I have done is subtract the boat position from 201, and I gave the participating FS'ers who were in a not floating boat one point less then the lowest boat afloat.
An option could be to to subtract from 301 in the future, but I think missing a month might cause a gap to large to overcome in the other months. Lesley now made it to a beautiful #3 position, while missing one ctc, I don't think that would have been possible with the 301 alternative.

Any suggestions to overcome this problem in the future are welcome, for now I'll keep it this way should this occur more often. Until further notice of course.

All the best in 2023 for all Free Spirits, hopefully in good health, and good luck with all challenges
