Lesley, I can't find a thread anywhere, did you make it to Prague ?? [-o<
I did make it all the way to Prague, 22h of flying time plus the usual airport transfer times etc. It was great to compete on such a huge stage, in person. Although I nearly threw up with nerves. We just don't do those big events downunder.

Loads of people were commenting how the really dry air was leading to 2 to 4 s off their expected times. I must concur. A poor showing at 7.44.x. I was hoping for sub 7.40. Managed not to lose the plot in the 3rd 500 but shifted that problem to the last 300. I am very used to being coxed through a 2k and you can't do that at WRICH. I couldn't hear coach over the crowd even though he shouted himself hoarse.

To cut it short a 4th in both 2k and 500m. Not too shabby. And I really had nothing left to give after the 2k. So close to collapsing on the floor walking to the cool down ergs, then sat eying off the vomit buckets for awhile - but managed not to require them.

A great experience, really glad we went. Happy with the effort, and 4th is better than 5th. Not looking forward to another 2k this month for the ctc, I did briefly think about cheating and adding in the wrich result but that's not me.

I level up before wrich 2025 so game on in whatever country wins the bidding with World Rowing.

Great effort Lesley. All that travelling and I'm sure time differences really does take it out of you more than you'd imagine.

Well done on not up-chucking as well. =D>

Lesley, still a great time and 4th in the world in your last year in the category is immense.

I would say that WRICH counts for CTC. Back in the day they always chose 2k for the month of BIRC for that very reason, but happy for anyone with different views to pitch in.

Great rowing, Lesley. Very well done. And I agree, it's a 2K, no reason not to join the ctc chart with it.

I will leave the CTC tool pointing at the March results until Fred has picked them up. At some point I will try to figure out how to show multiple sets of results in a menu, but that isn't looking as simple as it used to be I'm afraid.

Thanks for keeping it in order, Jon. Saves me quite some time of course, not having to calculate that.
Having said that, the March results have been entered. Two completely new participants, though Michael Becket might be MB, who rowed one CTC in 2018. Michael, in case you read this, if that's true let me know, I'll make sure then that both scores will be visible under your present name. Doubles your number of CTC participations :fswink:
And welkom Taetske. Somehow your name suggests we're from the same country

Mat has entered the top 3 again. Peter climbed some spots in the top 10. Lesley's first this year.

Have fun with the Baker's dozen.

You are correct Fred! Taetske Breeuwsma is a dutch lady from my otw rowing club who I talked into joining Free Spirits for the ctc. But everyone in the club keeps calling her Tea, it's easier :D

April's results are in the chart now. No change in the top 3, Ingrid and Kay working their way up in the list. And a new entry, Erik, though there can also have been a name change with the new site forcing some new registration. IIf so, let me know.

And thanks Jon, for making my result-adding life easier with your page.

The board has been updated again. The first spot has been taken by Ian, congratulations. Rob missed out on this one, dropped to #3, Mat climbed to the second position.
A new entry: John McKenzie, welcome (or is it as with Liefcat: another name for the same person??), and two who rowed their first one this season.

Now, let's go for those 624 meters. Can be painful of course, but shouldn't take too long. Good luck.

Free Spirits CTC Participation and Leaderboard

Post by JonT »

Fred,

Did you take the points from the tool? I haven’t updated it since the end of the month and I am away at the moment. The scores may not be correct.

Updated again. Felton entered the top 10, nice. Philip rowed his 175th. Impressive. And Huw entered a score for the first time this season. Welcome back.

By the way, I think the time entered by Lesley was the time for the July challenge. Over 28 minutes. Is possible of course, but would be a very very slow 624 meters.
