I'll open the door to anyone else wanting to post something up...
It looks like no one wants to respond to Plummy's offer. That is not so surprising, since:

"Everybody needs a little time away
I heard her say"

I knew this straight away but will let it ride for a while for someone else to pick up.

As no one else has picked this up (I'm amazed to say) - it's Hard to Say I'm Sorry by Chicago. I'll try and come up with something else today

This just popped up on the radio:

I can hardly wait to hold you, feel my arms around you
How long I have waited, waited just to love you
Now that I have found you

Back to the 60's for this one - easy listening.

"You'll hold me in your arms
And say once again you love me

And if your love is true
Everything will be just as wonderful"

This tune is a classical concerto!

No guesses yet? Please tell me that you know this song and are just TOYing with me!

More verses for now:

"How gentle is the rain
That falls softly on the meadow?
Birds, high up in the trees
Serenade the clouds with their melodies

Oh, see, there beyond the hill
The bright colors of the rainbow
Some magic from above
Made this day for us just to fall in love"

Hi Ann

It sounded vaguely familiar, but I couldn’t place the words, even with the extended lyrics. So I googled it and watched it on YouTube. When I heard the song, I definitely remember hearing it before, but didn’t know the artists at all. As it was recorded in 1965, it should have been right in my wheelhouse, but there you go!

Interesting story about the melody. It was originally thought to have been written by JS Bach, but it was discovered in the 1970s that it was in fact written by a somewhat lesser known composer.

The song was Lover's Concerto by The Toys.

I do not want to kill this thead!
"It's enough to drive you crazy if you let it"

So I'll try again.

"Tumble outta bed
And I stumble to the kitchen
Pour myself a cup of ambition"

This one won't last long - first song I heard on the radio:

"I hear you singing in the wire"

But I can't pick it up ...

Here is the new, composed, me. :^o

You guys know this song. I just need to pick lyrics that are not too hard and not too easy. There are plenty to choose from.

First try:

"I was 16, he was 21
Rode with us to Memphis
And papa woulda shot him if he knew what he'd done"

Yes, I'm still here! I finally know one (and in a timely manner, it seems)

Gypsies, Tramps & Thieves - Cher

My definition of a "good one" Ron.
I know I know the song, but can't quite place it ...
