Correct Paul, way off the mark!
Mr. Bojangles (written by Jerry Jeff Walker, I believe) danced
for you. Not sure if he had a wife, but he travelled about with his dog.

Perfect Paul.
Lately, the secret to picking songs that can be identified here is to pick
really old songs!

Here’s a mixture of old and topical.
But nothing impressed me at all

Sorry, not Abba.
But there may be a connection (of sorts) between your guess and the title of the song.

Indeed it is! I thought it appropriate to come up with a World Cup themed song.

I
was born during the Truman presidency, but do not remember him!
I think a burger (with fries) and a coke was 75 cents when I was in Junior High School.
All that being said, no idea about a song with those lyrics. It does seem like something 1960's folk singers might have written, or perhaps Woody Guthrie.
