I know I'm breaking my own rule, but that's such a great line that I had to google it.

I managed to find the name of the song, but could not find it on either YouTube or iTunes. I did get to hear "Should've asked her faster". I never would have pegged you as a country music fan.

I was confused until I watched the video.   I think that line at the end was inspired by "A Swing Like That" by Ty England. Not a direct quote, but if you read the lyrics, you'll see what I mean. Or maybe it was the other way around - he saw that video and used it as the basis for a song?

Anyway, that was too easy. How about trying something a bit more challenging?

Having just returned from Alvor where I spent (as usual) quite some time with a microphone in my hand, I'm going to continue hogging this thread by quoting from one of my favourite karaoke songs.

"The microphone smells like a beer"

OK, if that was too tough (I tried to pick an obscure line from a well known song), how about this one:

When the Jester sang for the king and queen in a coat he borrowed from James Dean

Sorry, relied on my memory. Second line should be "And somebody spoke and I went into a dream."

Close. Right group, right album, but the wrong song.

Sorry, I had to youtube it.

Richard Thompson - Vincent Black Lightning 1952

Totally new experience for me, I'm afraid. Not at all bad, though. I'd say he could grow on me.

As I didn't get that one unaided, I think the ball's back in your court.....

Harry Belafonte? The Banana Boat Song?

Assuming that's correct, how about:

Yep. That's it.

"...in all that time I still don't know what you mean."

It's floating around in my head. Give me a day, it'll come to me. 8)

EDIT - Billy Joel -- getting closer.

EDIT - "Big Shot" ?

That's the next line alright (more or less) - It's actually "In all the time I've known you, I still don't know what you mean. But it's not Billy Joel.

Come on, I know you know it.
