I almost looked at this thread 7 hours ago (4:30am), since I thought you would be prompt with a new song. Good thing I stayed in bed.

Lots more lyrics come to mind, but I think the title is Summer in the City.
Peter, having just read a synopsis of the book, ' Hotter Than a Match Head ' I am glad that you are not, especially as sailing was mentioned. Joking aside, I hope that you and Ann are taking care of yourselves.

And yes, you think correctly, as it is ' Summer in The City '. In which case it's over to you. :)

The short version of the story is yes, we are doing well. :^o PM if anyone wants the longer version.

I know many of you know the artist; hopefully also the song. [-o<

I'm pretty sure it's by The Carpenters, but the name of the song eludes me right now. Maybe if I go for a walk, it will come to me.

I was singing the song to myself and I came to the end of the first verse, which finished with the words "For all we know", which I think is the name of the song.

I was thinking the same, but can't name the tune - going to have a guess anyway - "Top Of The World"?

P.S.

Just seen Paul's latest post - he is more likely to be correct than I am.

Hello Pauls. Thanks for the quick responses.

Good thing that Paul V needed only a 5 minute walk to get the correct title. =D>

The only possible problem with posting an easy song is the number of people who now have that song stuck in their head. 8)

Hi Peter

I've no problem with having Karen Carpenter's voice stuck in my head. She was a joy to listen to and it's just very sad that she died so young.

Anyway, I guess that means I need to think of a new song.

I accidentally came across this song when I was channel hopping on TV recently. It's supposed to be very well known, but it wasn't all that familiar to me. Anyway, here's a couple of lines from the song that may well prove how well known (or otherwise) the song is.

All the shine of a thousand spotlights
All the stars we steal from the night sky
Will never be enough

I love that song and the subtle, nuanced looks between the actors and actresses whilst the song is being performed are arguably the best I've ever seen. I watch it as You Tube favourite

That's one of the nice things about music - it certainly divides opinions   and tastes differ wildly.
That "epic" is not going to find it's way onto any of my playlists anytime soon

Update: we did not give up, at least not for long. We were pretty sure it was Neil Diamond, since that was who we heard with those beginning lyrics.

Now, as I write this, Ann is dancing around the kitchen to Coming to America!
