No takers yet - time for another clue then, but no more lyrics - by order of the Peaky Blinders

If it's the theme tune I may be able to assist one of the other guessers ... something about a "Dead Man" perhaps?

It is the theme tune, but nothing about a "Dead Man" I'm afraid :)

The artist was in the news recently when he had suffered a family tragedy.

I've watched every episode (even have loose family links to the Peakys), and can hum the tune in my head.
But can't recall the title or artist :P (sounds like John Waites, though I don't think it is).

Sure you are not thinking of Tom Waits? - regardless, it isn't him :)

Australian artist - been around since the 80's.

Final clue before defaulting to Wolfie :

The song title is a phrase from "Paradise Lost" and was written in 1994.

Of course I was thinking of Tom, not John 🤦🏻‍♂️
Anyway, I’m now pretty confident the artist is Nick Cave …

It sure is - you may have to re-watch an episode of Peaky Blinders to help get you over the line :D

No more bites at this one then :

The song is "Red Right Hand" by Nick Cave.

As Wolfie was the only one who got close(or even ventured a guess :D ) I suggest he puts forward the next one.

Thanks Paul.

I see you are in Ryde, IOW.

I'm planning a round the island cycle trip with my wife for late September. We've done it clockwise so will be going anti clock from Cowes or perhaps Yarmouth.

I'll let you know when we're on our way and you can put the kettle on.

I live within 500m of the route so an easy diversion - if you ride slowly enough I may even join you through to Cowes

Generally, I would agree. However, I will wait a bit longer to see if Wolfie still has this stuck in his head. If he is not back today, or if someone else does not get inspired, I will post more extensively.
