Re: Name that tune
I know this...but...gaah, can't pin it just yet.
Edit, 5 minutes of thinking and I think the next line is something like "I could never leave you for another" and it's high pitched- but I still can't get it. Ooh, hang on - Prince maybe...but the song...

Re: Name that tune
Norman Greenbaum (who I do not think is Jewish) was the one hit wonder who wrote Spirit In The Sky.
We are not in "the place that's the best", but we will soon sail across the Tonga Trench and land in Nuku'alofa, Tongatapu tomorrow, and then Neifu, Vava'u Tonga.

Re: Name that tune
Peter, I thought that this one would go very quickly and yes, of course, it's Spirit in The Sky.
As I have been an atheist for many years now, Mr Greenbaum's religious leanings are his business and not mine.
I had to look up about the Tonga Trench, although ages ago, I watched a film where an unmanned submersible was used to explore the Mariana Trench. Amazing but scary. I hope that you will enjoy the rest of your holiday.
And now over to you.

Re: Name that tune
Thanks Jill. We managed to stay on the surface of the ocean.
Since the songwriter is on board, I want to choose one of his songs. A fair number have already been used, so hopefully someone knows this one.
"I bruise you, you bruise me
We both bruise too easily"

Peter, at the moment, I would appear to be on a winning streak ... which won't last. All I know. ( Art Garfunkel )Peter_S wrote: ↑Fri Nov 17, 2023 2:24 am Thanks Jill. We managed to stay on the surface of the ocean.

I'm not sure, ( without looking ) if Art Garfunkel wrote the song, so if he didn't, then apologies to the ( onboard ) songwriter who did.

Re: Name that tune
Thank you Peter; the piano playing gave me goose bumps. My mum was an accomplished pianist but unfortunately, I never inherited her talents.
As for the streaking, at this time of the year, it's far too parky over on this side of the Pond ...
The mention of the word streaking, has awakened a funny memory from the seventies. However, as it could possibly bring this thread into disrepute, I'll have to perhaps write about it on the Ladies Banter Thread, where, we are a law unto ourselves.
I've checked and surprisingly, this one hasn't come up before:
And I've been waiting for this moment, for all my life.
I do have a ' claim to fame ' with the artist of this song.

No Steve, it's not Foreigner.
Yes, articflipper, you are right. The song of course, sung by Phil Collins.
Over to you.

Re: Name that tune
Not that I know of.
Peter, at the moment I need to reply to some outstanding emails but give me a couple of days and then I'll post an explanation on the Ladies Banter Thread. Spoiler alert though - Mr Collins and I have never met.
