Yesterday was terrible.

The comapny I work for and which I care passionately about is, in my opinion, on the brink of disaster with people looking around for the lifeboats. The business plan is to revert to the plan we had 5 years ago and I just can't see that working.

The uncertainty has kicked off a lot of behaviours that are less than appealing (probably from me as well) and this may all end in disaster.

I've probably damaged relationships with people I respect and certainly not been very professional with those I don't.

Arrived home on a late train stressed to the max and then found that my brand new HR monitor has stopped working.

Tried to do the 5k piece but a classic fly and die and just could not control HR or pace. Folded after 3k and went home to get hammered.

Now got a hangover and lots of regrets. :(

This too shall pass Graham :fswink:

I sympathise having been through what you are experiencing a few times now, keep firm to your solid principles and you will get through it.

Remember the words from IF ?......

IF you can keep your head when all about you
Are losing theirs and blaming it on you,
If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you,
But make allowance for their doubting too;
If you can wait and not be tired by waiting,
Or being lied about, don't deal in lies,
Or being hated, don't give way to hating,
And yet don't look too good, nor talk too wise

It goes on a bit, you get the picture.

Know that all your friends on here are with you :D

I hope today was a better day for you Graham and that things work out a lot better than you fear they will.

I echo Paul's thoughts - hope today was a bit better - make sure you enjoy the weekend, and a fast burn on the erg should get rid of some of the aggression - works for me anyway :P

good day - my daughter had a lovely prom and was to everyone's surprise voted prom queen for being lovely

bad day - was allocated a new line manager last month who hasn't responded to 4 emails trying to set up ameeting, and realised that the new grading system moves me down in corporately recognised stature, loses me a 10% bonus and also makes the chances of a pay rise are f**** all and that's after 3 freezes on the trot

ugly day: bottle of wine and a couple of beers - feels great but I still have a busy week with my very tolerant clients

The old corporate roulette - hate that.

On the bright side, your daughter had a great day and that sounds like a really nice bottle of wine you had. I'm rather partial to a Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc myself or a nice Sancerre.

Sorry to hear about the bad day Mark - but please mind the language as some youngsters read this forum.

P.S. I've not had a pay rise in 5 years (and don't drink wine so can't commiserate the way most appear to do)

Not a good day for me yesterday as thieves targeted my trailer for the second time this year, it's now getting to the stage where the insurance renewal premiums are catching up with the value of the smaller items of what I'm trying to cover. Who says crime doesn't pay ? it dam well does around here. If I could only catch them I'd chainsaw their bloody arms and legs off and willingly do the time as a result. Grrrrrrrrrrr!!!!!!!!!!!! How much time would I have to serve as a first time offender 12 months suspended maybe? Rant over sorry guys.

Sorry to hear that Colin - little b**tards. Hope someday they get what's coming to them...

I had a crap day too - M62 got closed so spent 6 hours driving around the world just trying to see a customer and then get home (should have taken only 3) - plus my new car isn't quite as perfect as it was when i set out - my fault as well :(

Colin - the little so and so's. You hold them and I'll hit 'em! Can you install a CCTV camera where you keep the trailer - you may not stop them - but you may be more likely to catch them afterwards?

Dave - uh oh...hope the car is pretty again soon. How bad is it?

I could do a "rent a man" service Colin. I could camp in the back of your trailer and when the little shi+s turn up i could have a party and batter them all with my baseball bat. I hope what Strider says is true, what goes around comes around. [-o<

Hope the car is ok David.

I'm really sorry Colin.

Sorry about the car too Dave - you must be gutted.

Colin, I think our colleagues are being too nice.

Leave the trailer in a suitably exposed place with the doors open and wire it to the mains.

Put up a small and discrete warning notice that may happen to fall off and wait for the little gits to grab the handle. They'll get what they deserve.

I live in a very rural area and occasionally farm vehicles and equipment goes missing. Given the relative small population of potenital low life in the town and district though, when we go through spates of incidences, there is usually a period of over active use of bird scarers that use 12 bores whihc tends to discourage such behaviour.

Instead we get the low level social disruption on Friday and saturday nights but thankfully not too much.

These people though respond to direct action rather than therapy and suspended sentences from soft judges. A bit of direct retribution is always best.

One of my clients lives in a very rural area and several times had fuel taken from his old tractor. He decided that the very best way to deal with it was to pour sugar into the tank and then just let them steal the fuel again. He said it was totally worth the damage to the tractor every time he thought about the results that the thieves would have suffered

We have similar approaches.

A favourite is to leave the dogs in the yard and not hear them for a few minutes. Farm dogs tend to be extremely loyal, very territorial and best of all, silent until they have something to chew on.

Another is for the sons (and sometimes daughters) of the farmers to visit town and wiat until the townies have had a couple of beers. Farm boys tend to be strong and quick. Sometimes the police take a few extra minutes to arrive.

Had a big shock last night when i got home from work and started to read the local paper and realised that the man that lives behind us died in a car accident on Sunday night.I am lost for words. :( :( He has a wife and 12 year old son aswell. :( He was only 36 years old.The 12 year old boy goes to the same school as my son and they play football together outside on weekends.I don't really know what to say to him,he will be crushed inside. The saddness in there house must be unbelievable and my heart goes out to them both.
All i can think of is what would my son and daughter would feel like if it happened to me. :(

Ugh. Awful. We lost a kid each of the last two years to car accidents. Yet people still worry about kidnappers.

For some light relief, I had a bad day yesterday. I was caught short in a lesson for the first time in my career. I pinched my buttocks together for 15 minutes until the bell was in striking distance then dashed to the neighbouring lab, squeaked the situation and dashed for the loo. Off for the rest of the day and in cold sweat today whilst shaving so cried off. I have taught ill many times, but I am not risking that sort of explosion in a class again. Nasty.

So _that's_ what you're doing in your avatar photo.... Way of the exploding Thomas....

Personally I favour capital punishment for anything above minor crime. Chop them up for organs. Suspect the criminal scum would somehow find the incentive to behave then... And far better than paying a fortune to keep them in luxury in jails if they ever do get caught.

And don't get me started on those lovely people who never work, but bang out children (often alcohol or drug damaged before birth) they don't even want, just so they can get more benefits...

Is it me, or is there a disturbing breakdown in moral responsibility in a scarily large proportion of the population?

Got some bad news this afternoon. :( :( :( :( My Dad went to see a specialist last week about a pain he was having in his side and around his back and after a few x-rays, then a scan, it has been revealed he has a fist size cancer in his back near his spine.  He has to go to Christies in Manchester for an operation in 2 weeks. :( :(
As you can imagine my head is up my ass and my training will probably take on longer slower rows just to try to take my mind off things or do some thinking. I am well informed about the risks and things because my wife is a nurse(she deals with cancer a lot as a district nurse)
