Welcome Jayne, I hope you get back to your old level as quickly as you would like, and I join Jon in saying you can ask any question you want!

Hi! I'm Eric from Kristianstad, Sweden. I realized that perhaps I should introduce myself since I enjoy being part of the Free Spirits for C2s challenges and using the meterboard. I started indoor rowing in 2021 as a low-impact cardio exercise alternative after a heart scare, but nowadays I mostly do it because I enjoy it (or to keep from sliding down the meterboard :) )

Great to hear from you Eric. Personally I find that logging my training (generally on the "What training have Freespirits..." thread and on the Pete Plan thread in the Training Forum) is also a great motivator. It is a mutual support group and seeing others training helps to spur me to keep going. Also there is the CTC (Cross team Challenge) each month which allows a friendly rivalry with others of a similar pace as well as the monitored "Participation" to encourage us to do these diverse challenges and log them for the team. While this includes people whose ergs I am not worthy to wipe down, there are plenty of more modest performers (myself included). This month was our choice and we have set 3 intervals of 6 mins with 2 min rest between each to celebrate 18 years of FreeSpirits.

Hope I haven't scared you off and to hear more from you when you have something you wish to share.

Best wishes

As I was posting the video on foot position I came across this video which is sort of an introduction to an aspect of my life outside work and rowing.

The video is the 'end of season' celebration video for a mixed-ability rugby team that I work with. I do all of the video and photography for them to help promote the team and also to give the players some imagery of themselves. The team basically welcomes any player, with any ability, playing at any standard. We play full-contact, touch rugby, and a hybrid form where touch and contact players play together (sounds like carnage, but actually works very well).

Here is the video

Well done, Jon - you've got some talent, bud!

And what a great team atmosphere. Still doesn't make me want to play rugby though... :D

Thanks Ron, that's kind of you to say.

You'd be fine on a rugby pitch with these guys.

Fully agree with Ron, great video!
Making-wise but also content-wise.
It is great to see these kind of activities. Shows what sports can do, and how important it is to make it accessible to everyone. Team spirit for many that otherwise feel left alone.

Jon, as a so called "big tough forward" (never was really) ex player, that brought a tear to my eye. How wonderful, best rugby video I've seen in ages. Thanks for sharing.

Such a fantastic day today photographing both our Touch Rugby and Mixed-Ability Contact teams.
