OK, Dave. I give up. It seems likely that there's some connection between Vic Reeves and The Fivepenny Piece and maybe they appeared on one of his TV shows. I get loads of google hits when I enter both names, but none of them seem to lead anywhere. There's a reference to Rollover Penny which seemed promising, but leads to a video of a dog rolling over on it's back.

So what's the connection?

That was either way too subtle or way too obvious for me. I'm not sure which. :?

I think you deserve another go, taking earthworm Jim as your starting point.

This thread will be difficult to keep going as the links may seem obvious to the creator but given the global nature of the team and massively different musical tastes I think it may only be a devout few contributing and even fewer of them ever spotting the links (unless they are glaringly obvious, in which case there's little challenge). I'll never put a link where the "you've really got to know your musical connections", simply it'll be a word from one linking to the other - somehow.

So. If I am to start with Big Jim by the FivePenny Piece

Just a comment to follow on from Plummy's and as a reminder of how Radcliffe and Maconie's "The Chain" works, from which this thread has arisen;

In their chain, a listener proposes both the next song in the chain, and also the link itself, rather than waiting for everyone else to guess the link which may be extremely abstract, or rely on far more muscal knowledge than I claim to possess :!:

Perhaps this could help move things along more quickly, and allow more to take part? As you stated clearly above though Graham - "your game, your rules" :!: :!:

The only band name I recognised when I googled it was Spandau ballet. But I can't see any connection between them and The FivePenny Piece. I think we may need another clue...

In my mind I've got something telling me it's something to do with e=mc2, but it may be irrelevant.
