Season's greetings, my fellow limericians
We're maintaining poetic traditions
It's quite true of course
That we're all “on the sauce”
And exhibit grave mental conditions

It all really rather a curse
Producing nonsensical verse
I'm into the habit
And that rhymes with rabbit
I told you - it's all quite perverse

At the dawn of two thousand and twelve
Into thoughts of the future we delve
But let's take a broom
To financial gloom
Such grim contemplation let's shelve

For optimism is always the key
To brain or brawn activity
So back and forth we will glide
On that smooth metal slide
In the quest for a cherished PB

February: the month for Crash B's

The dog sits at my toes
While I read Philip's prose
What is this I declare
A breathe of fresh air
I await the next outgoes

Since Boston I've been quite lack lustre
Not my usual performance and bluster
The reason for that
Is not only my back
My cancer has me all of a fluster

I was summoned to see my old Quack
And she said "Bill - it ain't your bad back!
A word from the wise
Your PSA's on the rise
And we'll need to try a new tack

So blood tests have come and have gone
The decisions been made - good job done.
Some hormones at first
Radiation in bursts
Then we'll wait and see the outcome

Indoor rowing will take a back seat
Whilst this next race I'll try hard to beat.
I'll be back once again
In the late autumn rain
When the treatment is over/complete.

The Welsh Champs may be the right place
To get myself back in the race
I've done it before
So I should do one more
To show that I'm back on the case.

As I ease these old bones on the rower
My speed may be a tad lower
But with Free Spirits for mates
I'll just up the rates
And try not to row any slower.
