Re: An Extra Limerick
Thank you Philip, I have enjoyed reading your clever and unique slant on the star signs. As always, you are witty and amusing. =D>
I’m an Arian, so my character analysis was first up and I have to tell you that I didn’t recognise myself.
Oh dear, my life’s been a sham
I’m not really like Aries The Ram
The dark arts of astrology
Are owed an apology ...
I’d rather be me ... As I am
Looking forward to your take on Geminis

The third sign of the Zodiac is Gemini
A characteristic of which is prolixity
Those born under this sign
May well be inclined
Towards chronic, incessant verbosity

If you're looking for much needed sympathy
And would welcome a friend showing empathy
Then here is the answer
Seek someone out who's a Cancer
Who will drive away your gloom and apathy

Philip, Barbara is right, we do appreciate your verbosity.
You are a man of many words. All of them eloquent.
You choreograph the words
Linguistic dance inside your head
Then each new month they debut
As the mainstay of this thread
I see from the Meterboard that you have made a very gentle return to the erg. I hope that the exercise is going well.

Thanks, Jill. After a 28 month period of little physical exertion, apart from playing bowls, I have found it quite a challenge to resume rowing. I had forgotten how tough it was Anyway, so far things are going well and I hope to be competitive again in my age group.

Well that's fun news Philip! Now don't fill your head with too many PM numbers. Need you to keep room in there for the words.

Re: An Extra Limerick
I have a pair of tickets for the Spurs-Huddersfield game on Saturday, but my flight tomorrow afternoon has been cancelled and later flights that would get me to the match in time are all full. So I've had to cancel.
If anyone is interested in the tickets, please send me a pm. I don't want any money for them, I'd just hate to see them go to waste. One of them is a senior (over 65 ticket) Of course, there's always the possibility that the match will be postponed if the upcoming weather is even worse than anticipated.
I felt that a Limerick would be an appropriate way of expressing my frustration. Apologies for the poetic licence in using imperfect rhymes.

And they're certainly truthful this time
The beast from the east
Has brought us to our knees
And prevented our airplanes from flyin'

Re: An Extra Limerick
Sorry to hear about your predicament, Paul. I hope that someone can take up your offer and that the match can take place.
I don't envy your experience of the "beast from the east". It's a pleasant 24C here. After 10 years living in Australia's warm climate a touch of frost might see us off!
Liked the limerick. Now that I've submitted the final star sign limerick in the series it will be back to some zany stuff on a variety of topics for the rest of the year.
Watch this space.

Re: An Extra Limerick
Thanks Philip
I have to say that with our daughter living in New Zealand, the idea of moving to the Southern Hemisphere is quite appealing. But we have two sons (and loads of siblings, nieces and nephews, etc.) living in Ireland and the UK, so we're unlikely to uproot ourselves in the near future.

Now and then you may feel altogether
Quite close to the end of your tether
At times such as these
Enjoy wine and cheese
To the sound of some willow on leather.....

Who'd be an Australian Prime Minister?
Sliding down from an upper floor banister
A pole at the base
Abruptly cuts down one's pace
Giving rise to a fate worse than sinister
