That sounds good to Colin - I'm in. My 5k is soft based on my 4x2k today, so I will definitely be going for it. I will do a recovery 30' on Sunday, so hope to see you there as well.

Re: 5k TT 12.00 noon 30/12/09
That's easy Christine.cweed wrote:Okay I am in - will try to figure out how to login to a RP session before Wednesday.
First you need to register for the session. You can do this via RowPro itself: Control Center>>Oarbits>>Session list and just tick the box of the session that you want to join. Alternatively, you can sign up here: http://www.digitalrowing.com/Oarbits/Schedule.htm
When is comes to checking in for the row, just connect your PM3/4 to your PC and start the RowPro program. Select Session Setup>>On-line and the Scheduled Row (SR) that you've signed up for will appear (from 20 minutes before the designated start time), together with any Quick Rows (QR) that people may have set up. Highlight the row that you want to do, select the number of intervals that you want the data to be divided into (on the right of the screen - default = 20) and hit the big green ROW button. That's it! You will now magically join all of the others who've signed up for the suffering.
See you on Wednesday

Re: 5k TT 12.00 noon 30/12/09
I have set up a 20' warmup session that starts at 11:30 GMT. That will give you 10 minutes rest before the main session. Will also give Chirstine a little practice logging into a session. Generally it is a good idea to login about 5 minutes before the session start time Christine

Geez the sacrificial RowPro virgin is getting nervous. I know why you are all excited - you guys don't have to worry about coming in dead last if I sign on!! Signed up for the warm up too. But before you all have a chance to decimate me I have disappointing news - I picked a 20 min paddle tomorrow for my very first go so I don't have problems on Wednesday. You can all have the distinction of my first RP TT as tomorrow is merely recovery work for me.

What's the format for the Warm Up? Do we just start as per a race and do our own thing for the twenty minutes? Daft question maybe - elderly & confused

Any more room for a little 'un??
Never done a Rowpro over the net - only against a pace boat - and only rowed 7 or so times this year so way out of shape but what the heck lets give it a go...
This is assuming I can get Rowpro working - I recall it being fragile...
See you online tomorrow

20 minutes is far longer than I'd normally take to warm up for a 5k. That's not to say that I shouldn't warm up for 20 mins.
I suspect that I'll prat around for the first 5 minutes, warm up for the next 10 or so and then coast home for the last 5.

Re: 5k TT 12.00 noon 30/12/09
Gaaahhhh...I'm already up an its only 3:20AM local time.
For the 20' warmup you do your own thing. Christine will most likely do Eddie Fletcher's warmup which is designed for 20 minutes
http://www.fletchersportscience.co.uk/u ... 735681.pdf
I will be doing mostly between 2:10-2:15 with power 10's every 2-3 minutes (similar in principle to Eddie's, but no stroke rate targets).
In addition to Eddie, Mike Caviston also appears to favor long warmups, although somewhat more intense going by his notes on the matter (about half way down this document: http://www.eudemonia.co.uk/wp%20notes.pdf (section titled Physical & Mental Preparation)).
As long as there is still a slot left, its fair game Richard. I don't think I see you in th list yet and there i ONE slot left...so better hurry and get registred. This is the current lineup from Oarbits and it looks like a Free Spirits convention
1 Colin Bradley GB 7:16.0
2 Lee Winslow GB 6:32.0
3 ross nathan GB 6:38.0
4 William Docter US 6:55.0
5 Denis Judd GB 7:13.0
6 Geoff Riley GB 0:00.0
7 Christine Wojcik US 8:13.0
8 William Wright GB 7:09.0
9 Jason Hewitt GB 6:24.0
10 Steve Smith GB 6:46.0
11 David Plumb GB 6:58.0
12 Jo Andrews GB 0:00.0
13 Catherine Sutherland CA 7:55.0
14 Larry Tait CA 6:40.0
15 Rolf Reuther-Nielsen DK 0:00.0

Re: 5k TT 12.00 noon 30/12/09
A note on the warm up. Whatever you do, do something.
Eddie's 20 minute session is excellent, however remember that it is specifically designed for a 2k. Just long enough to warm the core up, but not too long to enduce fatigue - for the 2k TT.
As a warm up for shorter distances therefore, you should do more. For longer (e.g. 5k) you should do less.
I plan on doing the 20 min EF today, but with less intencity and definitely miss out on the 3rd 30sec sprint piece.

Re: 5k TT 12.00 noon 30/12/09
Morning all,
Having a nightmare with Rowpro....
I can hook it up to the PM3 and row against a pace boat - all works fine - soon as I try to connect to the Internet it refuses and says Internet connection error!
I know the connection is just fine as I'm using it right now to post and I'm browsing quite happily - anyone know the in's and out's and can help with Rowpro or come across this error?
Hope to fix prior to 12 - if not then obviously I won't be able to join...
Thanks
Richard

Re: 5k TT 12.00 noon 30/12/09
Richard,
I've had a few connection issues but tried 2 or 3 times and eventually it connects. I thought is was moving the laptop from the upstairs hard wired connection to the one in the "rowing room" that buggered it up but I think it's just an iffy and temperamental Oarbits server.

Re: 5k TT 12.00 noon 30/12/09
Yep - enjoyed that (but for the fact it was my fourth row in 4 days so was a bit tired - and the warm up of 20 minutes was a tad long).
Felt solid and controlled through most of it (though working ruddy hard) and managed a decent sprint at the end. Finished with 19:05.1.
Only problem now is Rowpro won't generate any reports and keeps crashing/closing down so I don't know what the splits look like throughout
Cheers guys and gals
