Hi everyone. I’m Andy Quinn, posting as Mightyquinn and I’m based in West Wales. I completed today’s Concept 2 workout of the day which was a 10k and gave my new Free Spirits affiliation for the first time! I realised that I only have 3k to go before 1million metres on this machine, which will make 2 million career metres overall. I can’t believe how slow my times have become over the years but I’m determined to get them back down to more respectable levels and I look forward to keeping on the flow in this club.

Welcome Andy - thanks for posting. Good to have you with us and I look forward to reading of your updates.

Have you ticked the box on your C2 log to join the World Erg Challenge to allow your metres to help the team's total? No obligation of course but you don't have to do anything more or go any faster, your rowed metres just "count".

Regards
Dave

Good to see you Andy. I think we are all surprised at the damage done by Father Time (sometimes abetted by Uncle Sloth). The important thing is that you are back and rowing. I find that erging quickly becomes addictive, my fitness returns and I start to lose the excess pounds I have put on since I last rowed regularly. I hope that with the Forum, Metreboard and (if you are so inclined) the team comps like CTC or (when it restarts) the IRL provide the motivation to keep going. Whatever your motivation you will find FreeSpirits with similar outlooks. Looking forward to seeing your posts in the future.

I just have to say that this the end for me writing this piece. The reason is because I cannot be sure of not missing new members. I used this site, the C2 log, and the original meterboard site from a long long time ago to keep up to date. The original site had Shiney New members listed for one day and New listed for seven. If I missed a new arrival for whatever reason I could check with the old site to find the missing name.It is amazing that the original site was functioning this long but it has finally ended. Yesterday I know that member #335 joined but I don’t know who he or she is.
I enjoyed doing this and want to thank everyone who hosts the other threads and to those who reply. A big thank you goes to Jon who took up the huge job of keeping the meterboard going.

A warm welcome to this member  :D  [-o<

David,

I have to admit I had forgotten about the “new” feature on the old Meterboard. I will have a poke around at some point and see whether I can get it working in the new Meterboard. The old one is definitely dead now - I just don’t have the time to try to keep it alive.

Hi Jon,
Glad to hear from you. You put in a short sentence what I was trying to say. The old meterboard was on life support, it was there for several years before I started so it was probably over 10 years old. In computer time that is ancient. Every new season I was surprised it hadn’t died. You and those before you who volunteered to keep the meterboard running have had your hands full keeping the present meterboard and future meterboards running when faced with discontinued tech or platforms and new tech etc. i was not pushing for the return of the « new » feature. I used it when it was there that’s all. Don’t waste your time on something that is not essential to the site. Without you stepping up there would be no meterboard or forum. You are doing a great job of running the site. Again I say thank you for your work and I know all the other members say thank you also.

Dave

Although the new meterboard is not coping at all well with the start of the season, it is actually showing members as 'new' at the moment Dave. I'm not sure why it stopped doing that towards the end of last season. The code is a bit of a labyrinth to be honest. #-o

Hi all. I am returning to rowing after many, many years away and some personal challenges. I turned 60 this month and decided to throw old me away and start a new me. New season, new log book, and new meters. I’ve been poking around this site and love the metre board - how can I get added to that?
