Re: WELCOME to New Members
Sorry, I have been away and missed this discussion. Let me have a look and see why you are not appearing. The Meterboard is very temperamental when it comes to duplicate names etc
Give me a few days as things are quite busy at this end.

Just comparing your profile to mine, your team is set to FS but your affiliation is not - try the above link to see if that shows you're part of the affiliated team members.

Ian
Thanks for looking into this. You are right - my profile is set to "Free Spirits" but I am not appearing on the affiliated list. Do you think the problem lies with C2 or am I missing something?
Rewgards,
Richard

If you have leave affiliation (like mine), it seems like a c2 query to me.

Re: WELCOME to New Members
While you are doing that I will check to see if the Meterboard is at fault. When you say you "rejoined" the team, did you create a new C" id and/or a new Free Spirits one?

Re: WELCOME to New Members
Richard when you edit your profile on C2 (https://log.concept2.com/profile/98729/). Have you set Free Spirits to the team on the "affiliation" tab of your profile? If so, have you tried changing it and then changing it back to Free Spirits?

Re: WELCOME to New Members
In answer to JonT my C2 ID is the same as ever and I have tried exiting "Free Spirits" again and then re-re-joining - to no avail! I have emailed C2 and await a reply. Thanks for all your help.

Re: WELCOME to New Members
It now appears that C2 make a distinction between "Team" and "Affiliation". Apparently I had joined the team but not altered the affiliation in my profile. I have now taken care of the latter so we shall see if it makes a difference.

Hello from Bay City MI
Hi All, just wanted to introduce myself.
I'm a beginner that caught the rowing bug in January 2021 while living in Kingston, WA. I've since relocated to Bay City, MI and am restarting after a year-long hiatus. I'm glad I found a group of like-minded individuals, I am hoping I can contribute and that it will help keep me motivated. I'll be tackling the Concept2 "Dog Days" challenge beginning Aug 1 and I need to work up to 5k/day at least to meet the last week of August's goal of 40k. It has been fun reading some of the forum posts, it is really cool to see how supportive everyone is! I think I have the link to Free Spirits set up correctly in my Concept2 logbook, I will keep an eye on it in case I messed something up.

Welcome John. Things like Dog Days are a great motivator to get on the rower and put in some distance. Good luck with the challengejohnzilla wrote: ↑Sat Jul 29, 2023 7:55 pm Hi All, just wanted to introduce myself.

Someone welcome me back. I'm in terrible shape. Should be able to complete this month's CTC though. (Curious what my signature looks like after all this time, if it still exists.)

Re: WELCOME to New Members
Hello,
I’m new here, but I am rowing already for many years.
I had to find a new team because the old one (C2tweetcrew) wasn’t active anymore and is now liquidated. Especially for the C2ct it wasn’t possible to get a full boatload. So the last months I was still member of C2tweetcrew but joined The Diamonds for the C2ctc. That was a a strange situation, two teams. And with the Diamonds it was the same as the reason why the free spirits was founded: over regulation.
The liquidation of C2tweetcrew was a good moment to find a new team for all the challenges.
For the C2ct I already changed my team. And the January challenge is counting for this team.
Nevertheless I have to say that I have good memories of my old team, it inspired me to row a lot. I hope to find the same inspiration here.

Re: WELCOME to New Members
Welcome to the team Frans, it's great to have you with us. I'm sorry to hear that your old team was liquidated, I knew a few people from that team.
You'll never find "over-regulation" here, we're a very relaxed bunch when it comes to participation. At worst you might get a little nudge once in a while if we are a team member short for the CTC.

Re: WELCOME to New Members
Hi all!
I was kinda in the same boat as Frans. Been a member of c2tweetcrew since August 2011. In the last couple of years, the activity of the team has decreased immensely. I think it's been more than five years since we last filled a boat in the C2CTC... Doing the C2CTC and not being part of a boat for so long kinda sucked, but I still never missed a single challenge . I think now is the time to join a new team, since c2tweetcrew is slowly shutting down. Frans has told me nothing but good things about Free Sprits, so I believe it might be a right fit for me, too.
A little bit about myself: I'm 47 HW male from Switzerland, been rowing since March 2008. I started out as a long distance runner, rowing was a perfect addition to that. In recent years, I've rowed a LOT more than I've ran. I prefer long rowing distances (e.g. have more than 350 half marathons under my belt) and recently surpassed 35M meters. Currently, i row about 2M per year.
Cheers, Kay

Re: WELCOME to New Members
Hello Kay - thank you for choosing Free Spirits and you are most welcome. Also I'd like to throw out a thank you to Frans for the good things he has been saying about us.
35 million is a LONG way and 350 HMs is incredible - our Mr Mike Channin has done a lot but I don't think anything like that many.
Looking forward to seeing you on here with updates of your contributions (if you want to of course)
P.S. As we learnt with Frans, you will need to create a new identity for the CTC if rowing under our name otherwise all your prior entries will swap to us.

Re: WELCOME to New Members
Nice to see you back Kay. I hope you’ll have a good time here.
Making a new ID for the C2C is rather simple.
If you want to attribute your result of the current challenge to Free Spirits, that is also possible.
First you put as result 60 minutes under the old C2tweetcrew ID, then you use the real result with your new ID.
At once you will share a boat with others. No more loneliness
