Hmmm - very tempting - my seasons best is 14718!
I've bailed on 3 HM attempts (just to finish) in the last 10 days but 60 minutes has a chance. If I'm right, that'll be 15.00 BST

Stumbled upon this at the last minute, thanks for the company.
Great result Joe =D> =D>
Shame we lost Plummy towards the end, although he was waaaay ahead of me, I was trying to finish closer to him than Colin.... I must add Colin was on restricted stroke rate or he'd have kicked my arse as well.
Was my best of the season for me but still rubbish

Thanks for joining in Kingy. I consider the hour row the best distance for conditioning.
Plummy was right beside me for the 1st half hour, then he started drifting back.
I think Colin was on a 17spm rate I have never even considered going that low of a stroke rate.

Re: 1 hour Sat Jun 13 1400 GMT
Notes to self....
Before a seasons best attempt...
Don't do a 5k at 22SPM the night before (when you almost NEVER do restricted rate rows)
Don't spend the morning before the attempt working in the garden
Take the temperature into acount and start steady to make sure of a finish
Look at the opposition you were thinking of keeping up with (1 year younger,3 inches taller and 28kg heavier)
Getting to 41 minutes at 2:01.3 pace still allows you to back off and beat 2:02.3 and improve your seasons best.
Handled down - first time ever on Rowpro - just couldn't face another 19 minutes - sorry guys

Thats strange, I'm sure you was there with 10mins to go.... I must have been looking at somebody else. Thats the problem with an hour, it takes an hour to complete, but only a split second to stop. Nice try anyway Plummy.plummy wrote:Notes to self....

Re: 1 hour Sat Jun 13 1400 GMT
I think Saturdays are best for most people to do longer rows. The reason I setup for 1400 is thats 10 am in my part of the world, it gives me time to get the body moving before a hard row. If you would like to start earlier because of heat or other obligations (ie gardening) that would work.colin bradley wrote:Any date in mind Joseph?

There's only one rule in Free Spirits - and that is we respect each others efforts regardless of of how "good" or "bad". I hope that waved finger was really meant to be a "wink" smilie.colin bradley wrote:Kingy I dont think we should let Plummy get off so lightly Champions dont give up
I was ready to drop at 30 minutes and stuck with it for another 10 just hoping that passing the 20 minutes to go mark gave me a lift - it didn't. I was too tired, too hot and the Piriton/Hay Fever weren't helping.
As a penance I tried again yesterday with a steady start - I struggled to get to 14197 yesterday with 2 handle downs but did at least manage the hour.

Sorry David didnt mean to offend my writing skills dont always say what I'm thinking you have my total respect and always will its just that in my mind once one starts to handle down it makes it easier the next time. However if hay fever was giving you jipp then you have my sympathies. Please accept my Apologies, I guess thats a pint for you and Strider now. I was going to put a smilie at the end there but ...... not so sure now, sorry again
PS well done on finishing that last hour.

Re: 1 hour Sat Jun 13 1400 GMT
Colin - apology accepted, no harm done. I was 99% sure it should have been a wink smilie anyway but part of the reason for my post was - if that was the first post a new member had seen, he/she may think they were going to get pulled up for choosing to stop during a row - when we are "Free Spirits". If it's too tough, you are absolutely entitled to stop if you want - no obligations here.
Next Saturday is very lightly pencilled in so may see you then - depending on how the week goes
