Re: Anyone had any SEASON's bests recently?
Made some progress today - managed to break 7k for 30 mins in my 3rd row of the day.
Still re-building my strength after the latest lay-off(Plummy I see now where you are coming from re advancing age ) - back on my favoured max DF which feels much better too.
Today's rows:
1. 5000m - 22:26.2 - spm 23.4 - DF 358 s/s
2. 6842m - 30:00.0 - spm 23.8 - DF 356 s/s
3. 7005m - 30:00.0 - spm 24.2 - DF 345 s/s

Thanks Jon, Dave
Starting to enjoy the erg again - got a sub-8 2k this morning after a steady 5k - no record books being rewritten but at least it is progress

Re: Anyone had any SEASON's bests recently?
I attempted on Thursday to row an hour - and got absolutely nowhere near completing it. After a visit to the dentist this morning (to have a crown fitted) took less time than I imagined I had a bit more "rowing" time left to set off again absolutely determined to sit on the thing for an hour and get some sort of score recorded for the Nonathlon. The first 4.5km actually felt quite good and I was on for a season's best and looking back a two year season's best but then my legs just plain ran out of gas. Everything after 25 mins in was horrible with multiple stops for seat padding and foot-hole adjustments and I eventually limped over 13km (13030m) for the hour. Maybe I could blame a lack of hydration as I couldn't drink as my face was still numb and my first attempt ended with me wearing more of it than drinking it.
Part of me is still satisfied that I got a score recorded and did eventually get to the hour mark though.

Well done David - any time you can complete a 60 min then you have achieved something- to my mind it is the toughest ranking row from a mental and physical point of view

Re: Anyone had any SEASON's bests recently?
A 5k TT that didnt go to plan but still a season best and 1.2s of my PB. Started out OK, on track to beat my Australian Record but a dry mouth leading to dry throat, couldn't generate saliva to swallow, nearly handled down but a certain coach barking at me kept me in the game. Note the sad split time in the 4th 1000m . Brought it home OK. I do not wish to have another crack at it at the moment
A bit sad on the overall time but an A for effort. HR graph is the whole session. Easy to see the part where I nearly gave it up.

Well done on the SB and for pushing through that Lesley. Sometimes it turns out a barking coach is an asset! By the looks of it, if it wasn’t for that fourth interval you would have smashed your record.

Re: Anyone had any SEASON's bests recently?
Lesley, I think you‘re selling yourself a bit short here. You missed your PB, which is also an australian record, by 1.2 seconds I think that was a hell of a row! Next time you‘ll smash that PB/australian record easily

Re: Anyone had any SEASON's bests recently?
The Pete Plan called for a hard distance yesterday and to kill two birds with one stone I picked the 5k which is also the december challenge for the IRL. I set myself three goals:
bronze: 19:30 / 1:57.0
silver: 19:20 / 1:56.0
gold: 19:10 / 1:55.0
This is how it went:
I started off at bronze pace but soon realised that I could even go at silver pace without too much trouble. I basically kept going around 1:56 pace for the first 2k and then another second quicker in the next 2k. With 1k to go I realised that a new SB (19:08.4) might be doable if I just pulled a bit harder (certainly didn‘t feel like „a bit“ ). With 500m to go I was down to SB pace, time to open the hurt box for a decent finish sprint. Finally brought it home in 19:04.2 which is a new SB by 4.2 seconds. Quite a lot of pain for just over four seconds improvement but I‘ll happily take it

Re: Anyone had any SEASON's bests recently?
With the holiday challenge going on I have to make meters and decided to set a score for the IRL. My season's best should be easy to beat, had rowed a 6K with a faster pace earlier this week. Had a goal in mind, 19:20, and unlike Peter I kind of sticked to it though it felt relatively comfortable. The first 3K very steady, then a little bit faster. Ended up with 19:12.3. Perhaps a second attempt later.
Made it to 1:38.8
As for the Nonathlon: the 5K is my second 900+ score this year, and Metanonathlon: two light green scores.
Afterwards felt fit enough to try the CTC as well. A bit more uncomfortable, but finished, and it was better then my previous SB. Made it to 1:38.8

Re: Anyone had any SEASON's bests recently?
An of plan 10k with what appeared to be a soft target. I don't do this distance often so no strong idea on pace. A nice 87.2s improvement on my best from a couple of years ago. It could of been faster but that might have eaten too much into the training plan.
Of course the image is being silly and doesn't want to save as a smaller size file while on the tablet so the pace per 1000m is below. HR stayed well in control although climbed out of the blue zone which was written in the plan
2.12.3
2.12.4
2.12.1
2.13.2
2.13.5
2.12.5
2.11.9
2.11.6
2.12.0
2.07.7
Overall av pace 2.11.9 = 43.58.8 at rate 25

Re: Anyone had any SEASON's bests recently?
Great improvement there, Lesley.
Did a bit less off plan 10000 today as well. The last season's best missing since the start of the Holiday challenge. Except for the marathon, but that's something I might never row again. Too much effort, annoyance, pain for too little fun.
Goal was to see whether I could stick to a 2:00 pace for the 10K. Which I could.
I'm afraid my next goals are the shorter distances, everything shorter then 5K, get some more Nonathlon points there if possible. For these the 900 points are a lot harder for me.

Re: Anyone had any SEASON's bests recently?
Spent most of Sunday chopping up trees so my legs were stiff as boards last night - but somehow I managed to take a whole second off my 1k season's best. Hardly worth shouting about but I'll take anything positive as a result these days.

I didn’t expect much reward for a 0.2 second improvement on my 2k time for this season and I wasn’t disappointed : just 1 point The time was 8:45.8.
