If anyone wants to drop out at the last minute, I'll step in if they want. The stitches in my shoulder don't appear to be bothering me

I've had an e-mail From Gerard to say he might not make it as he's on his way back from holiday. He's the starter so if he's not there we'll set up a QR and you should get in.

Well done on the new PB Dave - sorry I couldn't join you
I did my own thing on Rowpro and it was probably the hardest yet almost the slowest HM I've done (when I've finished it - I've had plenty of handle downs in the past)

Shame we couldn't fit you in. With a time like that we would have been doing battle. I'd bet my house on the fact that would have speeded you up.

Well done Dave, Gerard and Plummy. =D> =D> Looks like the field was pretty close and a real battle between Barry and Oliver - just 4 seconds apart
I've got butterflys about tonight's session.

Re: Rowpro Summer Solstice Challenge HM June 21
I don't know if you're aware but broadcast does not work in 2d mode. I used 2d mode today and you're right, it's not ideal, if you're more than 1K behind the leaders (happened to me around 35mins ) the display pushes you to the far left of the screen and you can only see the people in front of you and then only those within 1Kbadocter wrote:On a personal note, I have decided to use the broadcast camera work option on the graphics menu. There is going to be so much spread in the field at the end that the 1k window in the 2-D is not going to be wide enough to show everybody, so at least in broadcast mode it will rotate between views of each participant. I also received my C-breeze in the mail yesterday, so will be putting that to the test
It will be great if they ever sort out a propper method of handicap starts. I'm sure all pb's would be beaten if we had close finishes.

I agree with you about the need for proper handicap starts - the way it is right now where you just have to wait at the start line really screws up any hope of using average split as a guide to how you are doing. Thanks for the heads up about how the 2-D negates the broadcast camera work, I will use high res instead.

Really enjoying reading these rowpro sessions even though I cannot join in. Sounds like a great race Dave, amazing how Gerard gave you a good kickstart, and only 3.9 seconds separating Barry and Oliver - very exciting.

Another thing that would be quite neat is if you could you could just watch these races. (or am I being a bit sad now) The thought of sitting down with a glass of fine wine and watching the pain and suffering unfolding, has some strange appeal to me.

It would be brilliant to be able to watch one of these on line. We could set up a sweep/eat pizza/anything you want whilst others go through the pain on your behalf

Rowpro says our session is at 18:30GMT. But I understood it to be 19:30GMT. I ran downstairs in a panic, heroically got the computer booted up and dashed down some water. Sure enough Rowpro says the race starts at 18:30 but when I went in, I was the only one signed up. I'm hoping we're still on for 19:30.

Re: Rowpro Summer Solstice Challenge HM June 21
It was 18:£0 GMT but there was some confusion for sure. Something to do with 8 people unable to register for one race. badocter started a quickrace and we abandoned the real one. But only 4 in the QR! So sorry Kirby.
I had a tough time. Did it on heart rate but holding 160 got so slow I pushed the pace too hard and paid badly rowing the last 25 minutes in some pain at 2:20. Bill got a great sub 1:24.

Re: Rowpro Summer Solstice Challenge HM June 21
Thank for the race Thomas, and sorry Kirby, we waited 6 minutes past start time 18:30 GMT, but you and three others were MIA. When we got done we saw you were in a session, so I hope it was with somebody.
William Docter 1:23:43.6 (1:59.1) PB - will post more about that in the PB thread
Thomas WP 1:27:42.4 (2:04.7)
Andrew Baines 1:28:28.6 (2:05.8 )
Tom Zalmstra 1:33.54.5 (2:13.5)
There was confuson at the start because there was a guy in chat that couldnot get in and we had no shows.... we abandoned the session to get him in and he disappeared... These things happen. Showing up 5-10 minutes early is a good is advisable - the norm seems to be to wait only 2-5 minutes past start time for stragglers.

Re: Rowpro Summer Solstice Challenge HM June 21
I'll figure it out someday, Bill. I saw the time at the last possible minute on Rowpro but I assumed it was a mixup with BST or something. When I went in to the race that I had checked off I was the only green light and all you guys were red so I thought the race must not be at 18:30 but at 19:30 as I had originally understood:
Kirby
PS. Just realised Thomas said 1:53.7, so I guess I could have taken it a bit easier.
I goofed around for an hour and then came back down. When I couldn't find anyone I just opened my own quick race and took off. It was a steady but rather painful 1:19:38.2 r27. Thanks to Thomas for telling me I needed 1:53.4 avg. because I locked in on 1:53.3 ish for the whole thing.19:30 GMT -- has 7 - one slot still open !!!
