5k on Rowpro Beta for week 17 challenge (completed)

Post by badocter »

Final night of the week 17 -5k challenge over on the C2 US forum. I've just registered for the Rowpro session that is going down at 19:00 GMT tonight (its on beta this time). All are of course welcome, and as I understand it the beta can handle 16 rowers so there is plenty of room (currently there are 5 registered)

If I can find myself a really cheap basic tower(I already have a monitor), I'll be able to get RowPro and hope to join in on some of these races.

As it turns out, 3 of the other 4 registered were no-shows, so it was me and one other guy who was 2 seconds faster pace than me, but just having one other is motivating :D although he lost his connection 1k in  Anyway, it got me primed and I beat my target pace (which was 1:52.5) with a 18:37.8 (1:51.8 ) :D .(previous was 19:08.5) Solid from begining to end with just a little sprint left for the last 1k. the details:

Code: Select all

dist /pace SR HRend
1000m 1:52.7 26 167
1000m 1:52.1 25 180
1000m 1:51.9 25 185
1000m 1:51.6 27 188
1000m 1:50.7 28 195
Very happy bout this. 2500m is next

Excellent result Bill =D> =D> =D> , so what time are you aiming for in the 2500m? 8:59.9?

Great rowing Bill, really pleased for you. So when are you going to try a 2k - sub 7 is definitely on the cards.

Spike,
Paul's law suggests 1:46.8 for the 2500m based on my 5k PB, while Thomas' pace predictor indicates 1:47.3 based on my 1k and 5k PB's. A 1:47.4 is require to get into FS4, so I am leaning toward that.

Stan,
I am running out of time this season for the 2k given that I need a serious CTC attempt in next few days. Soon though, very soon

Bill,

before Stan says it, ' you could set up the 2500m with 500m split giving you accurate times for both and what a way to finish the season!' 6:59.9 for 2k would leave you time to cruise the final 500 at 1:55 pace and achieve both targets  Knowing you your HR would go above 200 too

I'm aiming for a new PB in either the HM or Hour of Power to finish off the season

Thanks guys.

My mind can only handle one plan at a time, the rest of its energy has to be used blocking out the pain and the handle down gremlins. If I am capable to do a 6:59.9 2k and another 500m@1:55 after that, then I look forward to a 2k that I will be well under 6:59.9. :D My plan is I should not be able to pull the handle another stroke at the end of either of these. :fswink:

Along similar lines Spike, maybe you should wait until May 1 for the long row and make it an FM with splits at 500,1000,2000,5000,6000,10000,21097 and see how many 2009 Nonathlon points you can rack up in a single row. (you will have to interpolate for the 30' and 60' so additional splits at 8k and 16k might help pin those down)

Bill, I actually thought about it for a moment  , then it dawned on me how knackered I would be after 6.5 minutes to be able to keep going for a further 2hrs and 45minutes #-o

 Perhaps a PB attempt every other day with a recovery row inbetween :fswink:
