Thank you everyone. A most unpleasant 2k but still my favourite distance. The work begins again next week after being gifted a week off to just move as I felt like it.

Claudius - awesome 10K result. What is next on your PB list?

Thank you Lesley,
after wife and kids were away for a short time yesterday, I thought I could use the time to row another marathon. Plan was sub 165min. In the middle part I felt strong and fantasized a sub 160min. The last 8km showed up with quite exhaustion and tunnel vision. But I am happy with a 2:40:40.2 > also a crazy number !

36 secs quicker and your time would have been a palindrome!!!

Thanks Paul, if it had been a palindrome like that 2:40:04.2...I would have been very upset that I didn't row under 2:40 because only 4.3s too slow...so I like the symmetry in my current result!

Thank you all ! I interpret the symmetry of the result as an indication of the lived teamwork of this marathon. Always two there are...my Anima and I...on a mega pretzel, just the two of us alone through a virtual world.

A brief summary pb within the Holiday Challenge.

28.11. HM 1:16:44.1
11.12. 30min 8555m
17.12. 500m 1:27.5
17.12. 100m 15.9
21.12. 1k 3:08.0

With this I have no more Hwt pb. I was very happy about that today. I removed the LP as it was only from a memory log and it was done on an older Concept Mod.C. Also at my most recent fasttwitch times with 90kg 2016 I had a maximum of 1:13 standing- so I don't know if the 1:09 was correct at all. Currently, more than 1:15 is not in it...but what do I tell here...LP...who cares at all !

thx, things are about to change. I was training for the WRICH 2022 in Hamburg. This event is cancelled due to Covid. Next Year WRICH is about to take place in Canada- ok i am very busy with job and family- i dont think thats working out. And all what I said about a complete different approach to train and so on, i guess i only have a few Timetrials on my schedule...maybe the missing ones for this season, maybe optimizing one or two of them...and then this is it...

Hopefully Claudius you will be competing virtually in the WRIC the efforts you have made deserve the entry alone.
Looking forward to seeing your next batch of PBs 👍

Impressive results!! I also had a plan to travel to Hamburg, but as it went virtual, hence, now requires qualification, it is out of my reach and I am considering to participate in CrashB virtually as alternative.

However, the qualification for WRIC in Europe, the EIRC in Sweden were cancelled and BRIC hasn’t offered the qualification this year as they did last year, there is no qualification path for the European seats at the WRIC.
So I guess if you do a 2k TT at home and film it, you might have a chance to qualify anyway.

Still remember that WRIC this year was a disappointing affair as it saw far too few participants. Really a shame.

While I managed to PB every ranking peace last season I only managed a few PBS this season with the latest being at BRIC 2k in 6:37.5. 4.8sec faster than last year. Like yours Claudius, my new training’s regime doesn’t allow for many TTs, but the ones I do are massive Image like the FM in August at 2:54:14.4 (previous was 3:16:ish)

Caution->fantasy involved<>Criticism involved<

Thanks all! I have my problems with participating in a virtual event...maybe there are a few like me who understand the glitchyness of the virtual world  It is also this glitchyness from what the pure beauty of the virtual world derives. It's what fantasy is about. You have to think- is it real or not ? Thinks are different compared to the real world. You can not make the virtual world/fantasy as real as the real world without robbing its own beauty. So let it be inclusive...also with glitches. But a World Championship is a World Championship...and it deserves a real event in the real world. That's why I prefer a solid physical event...where you take a trip to Hamburg or Prague or wherever and let it be a >physical< experience on a new clean erg. Nevertheless, I also like the idea of a virtual event -because i do love the world of fantasy ...but then not without my friend ...I don't know if the bluetooth connection is free during the event- I managed to run Zwift and RowPro at the same time- so maybe that could work with the race software too. What does my friend say about this ? "Performing the outward show ? With me ? That's not what our relationship is about! The reason why I showed up, among other reasons, that you compete in an underestimated, meaningless sport. The cancellation of WRICH 2022 without a replacement underscores the irrelevance of this event. If a World Cup can't happen, but local icehockey games and soccer games can as a matter of course, then you need to know where you stand. Then World Rowing needs to know what direction it is taking indoor rowing if it cancels a World Championship without replacement and offers only a virtual event."

https://jkrishnamurti.org/content/serie ... f%E2%80%99 the whole text

Meaningless in terms of how our sport is perceived by the public compared to other sports. Let's take darts. The World Championship was turned into a huge hype. Darts is of course also a beautiful sport :-) . Now let's take the word underestimated in relation to the direct medical benefits of practising our sport in a small given time window (training volume in time) compared to other sports. The answer is clear. You can halve all the pills you take from your GP, or maybe throw them out altogether in the near future...a little overstatement !

Supplement 12.03.22
This video was intended to give an impulse to think in a different direction. However, it contains a point on which my friend strongly disagrees. No one has to judge the inner world of another rashly, not even one of the greatest philosophers of the last century. The fact that this video ends at this point of particular importance, that the actual turning point of philosophy has to be read in the original...that is also what is special about this video.

A bit of a cheeky one as I have never done an HM. Furthest I have ever rowed was around 15.2k for my 60min PB some years ago. Thought start the new year with a hard row - & it was!!! Was very unsure about pacing & spm. Decided to lower drf a wee bit to 115 & see if I could -ve split the whole row.
Wup - 1k
Time Dist spm HR split
08:26.9 2000 25 141 02:06.7
08:23.0 2000 25 146 02:05.7
08:19.3 2000 25 149 02:04.8
08:17.5 2000 25 154 02:04.3
08:16.1 2000 25 155 02:04.0
08:15.0 2000 25 158 02:03.7
08:14.4 2000 25 158 02:03.6
08:13.4 2000 26 158 02:03.3
08:11.7 2000 25 159 02:02.9
08:11.2 2000 25 158 02:02.8
04:24.0 1097 29 159 02:00.3
01:27:12 21097 25 154 02:04.0
CD - 1k
A big mental battle. Managed to -ve split the whole wout - should probably have gone faster in first 4k but wary of blowing up. HR >92% max for last 45mins  - so think thats all thats in the tank at the moment. HD`s made an appearance at 4k & 12k but managed to fight them off & knew if I reached 16k I would finnish. :D A bit disappointed to not go sub 2.04 but then if I had would be disappointed not to go sub 1.27.00.  Still stiff after a lot of stretching. Hats off to those who do FM & 100k ^O^ ^O^ - I won`t be trying them or another HM anytime soon!!

Congratulations on your first HM and a great PB!
The flat HR in the second half with even slightly increased pace is very impressive!

Congrats to your first HM ! Great row! Do longer rows more often with a lower intensity and see how the times are changing!

Many thanks Tako & Claudius. Think I should rate up a bit to improve time ( I am a bit of a hi rater like yourself C but a lot slower!!). Have been thinking recently my longer rows are too fast & will try to change to bit more distance & a bit slower!!!
