I circled back to my 1000m this morning - it was slower pace than my 2000m, so I figured I could improve it a bit. Goal was 1:40 pace, couldn't quite get there -- finished in 3:22.8 for a 1:41.4 pace, which was still a new PB. And I'm ranked 90th percentile on C2 by age/gender/weight. Yesssssss! Elite baby!!!! Sat down to get a head-start on Week 4 of the Dog Days of Summer with a one-hour paddle. Half-way through, I realized I could up my pace a bit to threaten my SB. Turned into a PB even after starting my sprint a bit too early and having to HD very briefly at the 1:45 mark. Logical brain kicked in and said, nope, we ain't doing that this late in the game. Next stroke registered 2:15+, but back on track after that.

Racked up a couple more today... As usual, without any prior planning. I'm a bit weird in that I usually set and adjust my targets during the row rather than before.

This month's IRL was a 4 minute row, so I knocked that out after a 1K warmup. In the process, I beat my prior best 1K (from six years ago!) by 8.4 seconds! 3:39.4

After catching my breath again, I started out thinking I'd do a 10K, but ended up feeling great as I negative split my way to a new 30 Minute PB of 7544. I didn't get around to finishing a 10K at that point... :D

Thanks, gents. One thing I've come to realize is that I probably left a lot of accomplishments on the sidelines when I was younger as I never had time to keep up with everything at once. It's nice to be fit enough at my age to improve some of these numbers now that I have more time for my various interests.

Near enough 30s off my best from a few years ago. Quite surprised as I didn't start out looking for anything better than 3:15 Image

I was in a hurry this morning, so I sat down for an attempt at my 5K PB. I rarely know exactly what my PB's are when I start these things, and I was thinking I needed to hit 19:40. As it turns out, my standing PB was 19:39.7. Luckily, I was a little faster than that and finished with a 19:35.4, just 4.3 seconds faster than my previous best, but nearly 20 seconds faster than I've gone so far this season. I'll take it!
