RowPro Blue Moon/CTC 5k - Tuesday 19:15 BST - COMPLETED
Anyone fancy a bash at the Blue Moon/CTC on Tuesday night.
I am planning to do a 5k at PB pace but with the first 1k at 1:40 for my sponsored row, the second at 1:50 and then see if I can hold on for the next 3000m...
Might be worth coming to have a ringside seat at a massive fly and die.
If there is enough interest I will set up a session. And a 5k warm down afterwards to complete the Blue Moon challenge...

Sorry, but I won't be able to make this one. I'm sure if you set up a session with "Blue Moon / CTC 5k" in the title you'll get some bites. I just posted reminders about the Blue Moon Row on the US and UK forums since I suspect most don't even know it is happening. Good luck

Hello Thomas
I've added myself to this, note I'll be ready at 19:15, on rowpro (oarbits / http://www.digitalrowing.com/default.aspx?itemid=268) the race time is 16:15 at the moment .
For the row itself I'll have to keep telling myself (do NOT keep up with TWP for the first k, do NOT keep up with TWP for the first k, do NOT keep up with TWP for the first k )

Well done for spotting that John. Would have REALLY annoyed me if I had turned up and found I had made that mistake.johnglynn wrote:Hello Thomas

Yes, er, don't follow me for the first 1k!!!! I should be on 1:45 pace by the end of the second k and who KNOWS what will happen after that. My current feeling is
1:40
1:49
1:48
1:47
1:46
(Overall split = 1:46 and a PB!)
But I suspect I can dream on. In reality, getting a sub 18 would be very cool. My pb is 17:49.
And then I only have to worry about the remaining 4(6?) 1k pieces.

Thats an very aggressive row Thomas with a 17:49 pb, best of luck.
I'm not sure were I am at the moment, was planing for a 1:46 average by 4k in then bring the average below 1:45 in the last K . I think that's around my current limits . I'd be happy ish with a 17:40 also .
Race plan ish
1:43 (I'll be in your slipstream ), 1:46 , 1:47 (start to die), 1:48 (come-on only 2K left), 1:41 (FFS you've 17:30 on a silver platter don't throw away ),

Re: RowPro Blue Moon/CTC 5k - Tuesday 19:15 BST
Would there be any problem with someone really quite slow joining in? It's about the time I was thinking of sitting down to do a 5k anyway, and I've just installed RowPro on this laptop.
I think maybe I'll get it all set up and if there's a slot left just before the off, I'll join up then. That way I won't keep anyone closer to you guys pace out of the race?
//edit It's ok, i've found a slightly slower looking one a bit later on which i'll give RowPro a go on. Good luck tonight guys!

Planned to join in after a 5K warm up but that nearly killed me, don't know why, just one of those days. Decided I'd be better off today with 5K warm up followed by a 5K warm down

Re: RowPro Blue Moon/CTC 5k - Tuesday 19:15 BST
Here are the results. I had a nightmare, paying BIG time for the fast first 1k.
1 Peter Marston 0:00.0 5,000m 0:00.0
2 John Glynn 17:28.1 5,000m 1:44.8
3 Anthony Webb 17:49.0 5,000m 1:46.9
4 Evaluation User 18:10.3 5,000m 1:49.0
5 Thomas W-P 18:35.6 5,000m 1:51.6
Pete was quick but not that quick!! I wondered if RP crashed as he hit the line.

Um Thomas, not to be too obvious but I saw this coming from over here. You hopped a ride on the fly and die express, first stop pain last stop oblivion.

Ooooooh yes.
The 5k warm up didn't help either.
I stopped 3 or four times.
But still, sub 19 minutes is not bad when 4 years ago my best was 19:26 or something. Got to keep it in perspective.
