Re: Feb CTC 300m "To encourage the kids"
Second attempt as I couldn't let Iain beat me as he's around 20-25 kg lighter than me.
Upped the DF from 137 to 148 and did a longer slow warm up.
Improved from 1:00.0 to 58.5 so happy with that, next target might be Peter's 57.7 !
300-1:37.5-48
100-1:37.5-46
200-1:36.0-47
300-1:39.5-51

Re: Feb CTC 300m "To encourage the kids"
Well done all for performance to date on this short, sharp and definitely not sweet challenge
Given that I was warmed up after a 5k this morning, I figured I'd give this an initial shot to get a marker on the board. Nudged the damper up a little and it ended up around 150 to give me a result of 53.8, 1:29.6, 44
I did note that its about time I replaced the shock cord on my erg! I'd noticed during my Hyrox event that the one there had a noticeably stronger pull on the return, and this morning I found rather too much slack on the chain each time I came back in towards the wheel for the next drive. New cord ordered today
Final note:
Did I see recently that we were considering a FS SkiErg team for the CTC? or was I imagining it?

Took a proper shot at this one today - how does 300m feel like such a long way… look up as you feel you should be entering the final 50m to see there’s still 225m to go

Re: Feb CTC 300m
Had another crack at this today and managed to shave a huge 0.3 seconds off my time.
Unlike Matt I find this goes way too quickly. I just feel settled and it’s 50m to go.

EDIT - I just noticed that is exactly the same time as Iain!

Re: Feb CTC 300m "To encourage the kids"
Had a go at this & made a complete pigs ear of it!!!
Dist Time dist spm HR Split
1x300m 00:59.2 300 53 163 01:38.6
Went off too fast at 1.34`s & paid for it in the last 100 stroke went to pieces!
Also didn`t set splits for 100m doh!!
No time for another go as on holiday again on Friday!!!

Re: Feb CTC 300m "To encourage the kids"
There are some great efforts here and some good little contests going on. Improved from 59.1 to 57.5 which is more than I expected. My back won’t thank me though. Big twinge on the very last stroke.
Last attempt for me.

And only one more rower needed to fill boat number 8. Would be super.

The tool was broken but is now fixed again (slight change at the C2CTC end). The tool will display the February result until Fred has updated the scores.

Re: Feb CTC 300m "To encourage the kids"
Pretty pleased with effort on this one.
I hadn't noticed there were TWO CTCs for February: my bad, I'd only glanced at what was visible in ErgZone. Anyway, I think if I'd have felt motivated to go again I could go even faster, as I think I was a little conservative in opening 150m:
But satisfied to see my HR was actually getting near-ish to max on RowErg. (Probably a couple more beats left, and for whatever scientific reason, I can get higher heart rates with all out running/sprint efforts) rather than RowErg).

Re: Feb CTC 300m "To encourage the kids"
Years ago, when I ran (a bit) as well as erging, I always found my Running Max was 2-3 beats higher than the Rowing Max. I think there was a scientific explanation for it (possibly something about it just being an easier motion to go flat-out on). And my cycling max was a bit lower than RowMax too.
Also, loving the calories/Hr column. Reminded me of the first time, way back in 2000, that I discovered that you could go over 2000 cal/hr on the PM2...

Also, loving that signature, Aren - beating any long term PB is very satisfying. WELL DONE.
I'm reduced to beating Recent(ish) Bests as most of my legacy PBs are just out of sight for me these days...
(Hmm. Need to update my sig too, having found a little more performance of late...)

I think RB should be a thing. No need for rules, the individual gets to decide based on recent events.Mike Channin wrote:Also, loving that signature, Aren - beating any long term PB is very satisfying. WELL DONE.![]()
