I can assure you Alan - the last two days were the worst. I have never, ever been so utterly exhausted in my life. I didn't even look at my erg when I went in the room where I keep it - she and I will not be together for a little while.

Absolutely mind blowing Plummy - probably more metres than I have done in my total erging career!! Showed real mental grit & think how nice to see that extra box on the end of your signature times - won`t be many peeps with a time for 1.000.000metres    ( definitely not me EVER) Again very very impressive - well done

Just added up my metres on Rowpro and they work out (thankfully) to 1 million. I've sent the logs off to C2 USA but Dena who looks after such things isn't in until Monday so Anke & I will have to wait until next week for anything official back.

I added up the calories burned according to Rowpro and they added up to 53140 - !

I suppose I could claim a spot in the PB thread :D - it's been a while since I had one

I changed my signature - looks kinda mad now with that last column

Thanks for asking Stan...

Honest appraisal is not too bad physically, although my legs seem to hurt more now than they did a couple of days ago so maybe the change from a million in a week to zero in a week is confusing my muscles. I got close to an exploratory row yesterday as I was re-fitting my C-Breeze and thought "hmmm - maybe just a few hundred" and then didn't.

My more telling issue is sleeping, I find that I can drop off in the evenings at spurious times and simply can't keep my eyes open which is something almost unknown to me as evening time is when I'm usually most "awake". To give you an idea, I nodded off yesterday for 20 minutes during the early evening TV football, then couldn't stay awake beyond 10:30pm (usually bed time is 11:30~12:00 midnight) and have just fallen asleep watching Top Gear (favourite program).

I think it maybe that I'm not "superficially tired" e.g. the feeling that you may have after one bad night's sleep etc but I'm "deeply" tired if there is such a thing. I anticipated a couple of weeks of re-adjustment after coming back and I will climb aboard the metal mistress on Saturday at the latest if not a couple of days earlier for 20~30 minute paddle to stretch some muscles.

In addition to the fatigue I suffered, I did genuinely strain my left calf so I have no intentions of risking re-pulling that so it will only be steady paddling.

I'm going to enrol in some 1~1 Pilates classes for inner core and stability classes soon as well as the state of my knees at the end of the 7th/8th days was SO out of sync/alignment it was ridiculous. I figure it can't do any harm.

Good to hear that you are taking your time for recovery Dave!
I guess as you mentioned, your tiredness is the body takes what he needs.

A fan of Top Gear, nice to hear, I love the guys, I took my English lessons with Top Gear some years ago, was a good training for listening, and of course I love fast cars and so the show
Happily you could watch them all in the internet without any problems like US shows.

Got it validated and verified. Here's the entire list of people that have ever done the million metre row:

Obviously there aren't too many people daft enough to try it - but I'm happy to be amongst such a short list of record holders

Don't worry everyone - I'm not doing it again!!!!

Just been re-reading the comments and amazing support I got through this event and decided it probably wouldn't hurt to put the full write up here if anyone was interested. It's certainly no great feat of wordsmithery but feel free to read it if you are bored or have insomnia (assuming the link works - let me know if it doesn't)

I feel very odd responding to a post written over a decade ago, but I'd be absolutely thrilled to read the full report if it's still available - I tried to request access via the link but it was unsuccessful. Cheers!
