Anyone else going?
Would be great to meet people in person again (if I can make it this year)!

Re: BRIC 2024 Birmingham
Shame I am unlikely to make this. I hope that we can get some people along as I have good memories of the races I did in the past and meeting fellow ergers and would hate to lose another race from the callendar!

For those planning to watch the action there is a link to cheaper spectator tickets. If interested, send me a pm.

Re: BRIC 2024 Birmingham
Good luck to anyone who is competing this weekend.
I was hoping to make at least a virtual effort, but my form is in pieces (as seems to be all too common at this time of year with winter viruses and stuff).

Re: BRIC 2024 Birmingham
Thank you Mike!
Yes, last year I ended up with a DNS on the results sheets and this morning I was afraid it could happen again. Fortunately feeling a bit better now, hence planning to travel tomorrow and make it to my first ever in person event. Will be great to sniff the atmosphere and meet people!
Result is secondary but as I have been out of form for almost 3 years now due to health issues anything close to 7:00 will be a success this time. The 500m I only signed up for as I travel all the way over, so trying to max the experience.

Re: BRIC 2024 Birmingham
All the very best, Tako. We're all wishing you the very best - let us know how it goes.
I'd be very pleased to hit sub-7, having not done so for several years now...
Know what you mean about the 500m - I remember when I used to compete that I used to enter every race on the day that I could, which often meant racing the 2k twice (Open and 30+ Hwt back then). Mind you, my only ever race 'victory' was in the 500m at Newark (I think) in 2006, when it ended up just me and Thomas W-P, with an entire race attendance cheering us on, so that was a pretty special experience in the end.

You should get a prize for the tidiest number as well. Great row considering your cold earlier in the week.

Thank you all!
Yes, very pleased with that 7:00.0
After a long wait and big gap between warm up and 500m race, I am happy to have smashed that one as well 1:35.7

Re: BRIC 2024 Birmingham
Well done Tako. Impressive to finish a 500 with a significantly quicker last 100, were you aware of overtaking Clive?

Re: BRIC 2024 Birmingham
I have just done that (although finding the files to update was a major trauma - thought they were lost!). I'm pretty certain William raced and medalled in 2007 at EIRC and I even have video of his race - but can't find a result table.

Hi Dave
Thanks for that Dave. Do you fancy some more work ?
William also won what was then BIRC at the NIA in Birmingham for 60-64 HWT in 6:45.7, was No.1 in GB that year (No. 7 in the World behind 6'6 giants) ahead of the late great legend Bill Wright . I remember it painfully as I myself came 4th !! in the 55-59 HWT race grrr.....
Happy days βΊ.

Re: BRIC 2024 Birmingham
Thanks Alan - I'll add that in tomorrow. I hope William is ok with being added.
Given he was an excellent HWT, it's astonishing he's picking up medals as a LWT now as well

Re: BRIC 2024 Birmingham
Maybe I need an exam of my mental health after this weekend as I already got tempted to sign up for 2025 (https://endurancecui.active.com/event-r ... 88006&ts=E)
Hopefully we will be more Free Spirits at BRIC2025
