Recommended Technique Videos?

Post by zootMutant »

My wife raced outrigger canoes for 22 years. After a brief pause (of about 20 years) she is interested in competing again. She raced this year, but only half-heartedly. Next year she plans to devote much more time to training and is interested in using the C2 for off-season conditioning.

I looked for C2 technique videos and wasn't impressed. Some showed a very jerky stroke, most showed hands dropping down toward the ankles and almost all showed a sharp wrist bend at the end of the drive. The goal is not to compete on the water, but to maintain cardio while not getting injured so she'll have a head-start in the Spring.

Here is what she wants:
  • No Condescension
  • No Histrionics or Melodrama
  • Clear Verbal Instructions
  • Backed by video showing the parts of the stroke...
  • ... and everything put together
Any recommendations?

Cheers,
zoot

I would use John's videos at https://youtube.com/@rowalong covers all aspects, perhaps start with "beginners" video 2 down on right.
56 year old Lwt (in ability and in weight) trying to develop a technique that doesn't cause hysterics and continue to row regularly.
