Re: Name that tune
It looks like this thread is finally dead.
But maybe everyone is merely away on holidays (or vacations, here) and will be back eventually.
With that more hopeful idea in mind, I will post lyrics and hope that this is not the final post in this thread.
"Here we are (bye, baby, goodbye)
Saying goodbye at the station (bye, baby, goodbye)
Summer vacation (bye, baby bye, baby)
Is taking you away"

Re: Name that tune
Peter, nor exactly dead, but on life support perhaps ...
I do look at this thread occasionally, although most of the time, the lyrics escape me.
For a few seconds, I thought that your choice was Bye Bye Baby, Baby Goodbye ( Frankie Valance? ) But then ... Dang, diddly! It isn't is it.

Re: Name that tune
Unfortunately, you are correct Jill. It is not Bye Bye, etc. by Frankie Valli.
But, it is reassuring to me that after 400+ views, someone responded! Thank you; I will await more posts.

Re: Name that tune
Knew I didn't know the lyrics so I googled it. Good luck anyone this side of the pond knowing it - I've never heard of the band, let alone the song (which I might have heard a couple of times ever because I vaguely recalled it when I played it). I think we should at least narrow down the decade to when this was a hit in the USA - which was the 60's.

Re: Name that tune
Hi Plummy, I hope you are getting better every day. And resisting your metal mistress.
I really did not have any hope that anyone (on either side of the pond) would know the song or even respond, give the almost total lack of participation in the thread recently. Rather than just posting "RIP", I decided the lyrics of this song were appropriate to the hope that things might pick up after the summer.
"I'll be alone each and every night
While you're away, don't forget to write
Bye-bye, so long, farewell
Bye-bye, so long
See you in September
See you when the summer's through"
"Have a good time but remember
There is danger in the summer moon above
Will I see you in September
Or lose you to a summer love?"

Re: Name that tune
Well, I will do as I said, , and check back in September. Since this is virtually the only thread I look at, please PM me if you want to reach me.
The last tune was
See you in September

Re: Name that tune
It’s now October and my first time posting here in a while. I’m close to returning (gently) to some erging and, as the person who started this thread, I feel it’s my responsibility to resuscitate it.
Usually, I check to see if a song I choose has been posted previously, but I decided not to bother this time. Instead I’m going to post the first line of a song that came to mind (for no apparent reading) while listening to a recording of See you in September on YouTube.
“All the leaves are green.”

California Dreamin' ? (Mamas and Papas)
...edit thought it was "all the leaves are brown" - maybe I'm off target.

You are right
The leaves are brown
Or orange gold red etc as I look out my window
Great song and great to have thread resuscitated

Re: Name that tune
Correct song, despite my getting the lyrics wrong. Over to you.

Back to the late 70's:
All I want is a room with a view
A sight worth seeing, a vision of you
