Dog Days
The Concept2 Dog Days challenge starts on August 1st:
57 years old, 5"10', clinging on to 75kg and frustratingly but understandably inconsistent

Re: Dog Days
Oh no! Dog Days again. I managed to complete this once, so I guess I'll have to try to repeat that...
5'11", 50 - older, slower, greyer, fatter (and needs to update the sig times too)

Re: Dog Days
At the end of week 1 we have 109 rowers who have completed the 100K event and one who has completed the 50K event.
Well done all. Onwards and upwards.
I am going to try to complete the event, but as luck would have it I am away for a few days in the final week which is going to make the 40K quite tricky.

Re: Dog Days
Week two saw quite a drop of of rowers. We now have 70 who have completed the second week of the 100K event and one for the 50K event.
Good luck with week 3 folks. I managed over 10K watching the second half of England in the World Cup semis, so not a bad start to the week.

Hey now - the "week" for this challenge goes through Monday midnight, so I've got tomorrow to get my additional meters in. Don't scare me like that!

Re: Dog Days
Sadly couldnt complete final week as got rushed to hospital with suspected heart attack !! But its now been diagnosed as atrial fibrillation and aortic stenosis
Lets hope erging will feature eventually in cardiac rehab
This comes after trying very hard to improve my diabetic control, ive lost lots of weight again nearly back to where I was in 2018 and WAS feeling.much fitter
Not fair is it

Re: Dog Days
Oh dang, Carole! Sorry to hear that happened but very happy to hear it wasn't a heart attack!! As a Coronary Artery Disease alumni myself, I worry a bit when things feel "funny" in my chest during an erg session.
Surely they'll let you get some meters in soon. Activity has got to better than inactivity in that department!

Scary stuff Carole. Glad it turned out not to be a H-A. Take it easy and as said above, I'm sure you'll be back on the erg very soon (being very careful)..

Good luck with the final week folks. I'm not sure I will make it, with very few days available to put in any rowing. I've managed to get an hour of power in this morning though, so that's a start anyway.

Re: Dog Days
I normally top out at 20~25km a week so last week's 30km was pretty tough. I can see me failing at 40km because I have other commitments time-wise. I've chucked an extra session in today because I had a free evening but tomorrow and Sat are fully booked doing hard physical work. Even there might be enough time available I think my body is going to object

Looking at the meterboard, I think you might be about to make it Plummy. Bravo.plummy wrote: ↑Wed Aug 23, 2023 6:53 pm I normally top out at 20~25km a week so last week's 30km was pretty tough. I managed a couple of 15K rows at the start and end of the week so I will just do an easy UT2 10K tomorrow to get this done (fingers crossed)
How are others doing with one day remaining?

Re: Dog Days
Had some slower 30 min sessions last week, and today's WOD pushed me beyond the 40 K so the certificate is mine

Re: Dog Days
Well done on those completed and fingers crossed for those not quite there yet. Being running injured this week meant I could get the 40k

Re: Dog Days
3 days on the trot putting metres but it's an unpleasant slog like last year. Fortunately one of my day's labour was called off owing to the garbage weather we are having in the UK so with 4.5km to go, barring a disaster, I should crawl over the line tomorrow. I'm not doing any extra though!!

Re: Dog Days
Well done everyone who completed the Dog Days Challenge - it's the last week's 40k that really hurts but at least we have today (Monday) to complete it!

Re: Dog Days
45 brave souls have a Dog Days icon on the Meterboard (this may actually be the first time I have completed it - I can't remember).
Well done all.
Jon
P.S. Some additional dogs may appear as some people enter meters which were completed ahead of the deadline.

Re: Dog Days
Congratulations to all fellow finishers!
In case someone wonders how people can have the dog days icon with not even having a season total over a 100k, it is due to the fact that not only the RowErg meters count and the honour board has no option to filter out who did it purely on the RowErg.
