Team Oarsome has chosen the June CTC.
For the first time since October 2007 it is an unrestricted 4 minutes

Re: June's CTC Challenge:
Nice. I haven't done a 4min TT in ages. I like the sound of this, I will not like it during the 4 min though.

For me I guess it will be 1 rep of 1k - 3 reps less than in May...

I'd like to think mid 40s is where I should aim at, but it's not looking likely this week

Re: June's CTC Challenge:

That’s me done for the month - off on hols for the rest of the month. So I’ll leave this here as a motivation to other lightweights. If you beat me, it’s yours.
My target was 1:52 with a strategy of 6 stroke blast, settle at target until 30s to go, empty the tank. Felt surprisingly comfortable.
Good luck all.

Re: June's CTC Challenge:
Well done Jon - enjoy your hols.
This might be the lot for me too: A couple of tenths outside my 1k PB from a couple of years ago. Make of that what you will.

Re: June's CTC Challenge:
Applying the expanded version of Paul's Law, you would have to be able to double your distance for 1.2S decrease in pace for that PB to be relatively as fast, so a better performance than your 1k PB

Re: June's CTC Challenge:
I can't help with that Steve, but my first and only go at this is on my schedule for Friday. Pace will be awful, but I don't want to risk anything and get rid of my sinusitis completely before I start exercising again.

Can't help on the ladies front. Tempted to ask whether I could identify as a lady and have another go, but really don't want to open that can of worms

Well done Mat - particularly given your injury. I'm particularly glad you were over 1m away from the JBH-Bee-Smith axis.

Yes, sorry about that Ian. I feel so guilty I'll try to have another go to see if I can eek another couple of meters!

Well Spidey, there's still time, and I'm happy to report it's easier the 2nd time as you KNOW you can do it!
1144 this time, for a decent gap from Ian and JBH (before they have another go)

Re: June's CTC Challenge:
Wow. I have been away on holiday and so haven't really been keeping track of things. I did look at CTC a few days ago and was quite sad to see how few people had entered and that we only had a single boat afloat. How things have changed. Thanks to all who put in an effort

Re: June's CTC Challenge:
As this month's CTC is pretty straightforward, I finally managed to motivate myself to get back on the erg for only the 3rd time this year. Did 5 minutes warm up followed by 941m in 4 minutes. I remember being horrified when I only managed 964m after a similar break a number of years ago, but I guess I'm a lot older now!
Anyway, we have four males (including a LWT) sitting ashore waiting for a damsel to come to our rescue!
