Anyone remember me?

Post by PSims »

It has been a very long time.
It was 2006 when I rowed with Andrew Stanway and Mike Channin….to complete marathons for charity.

I lost interest a bit for a while, changed jobs, cancelled gym memberships etc.

But enough is enough, so today a brand new Model D / PM5 arrived on my doorstep!

So, I am back and hoping to bring some enthusiasm with me.

A lot older now…60 in Feb, so the times won’t be quick, but hopefully the distances will start to accumulate.

I recognise a few die hards from back in the day…but welcome to all those I have not met!

Drop a reply if you remember me, or want to hurl some abuse!!

I do remember you. Not very well, I'm sorry, but the name does ring a bell.
Welcome back and hopefully the C2 won't get too much rest.

Yes - Mr Sims, I certainly remember you from "back in the day" and welcome back "young" man. I'll be joining you in the geriatric club in May so we can be slow together!

Welcome back Paul! Of course I remember you. I also haven’t been around much recently, but trying to get back into doing a bit in anticipation of reaching a new age category in a couple of months’ time.

Looking forward to seeing you post more regularly.

Good to see some familiar replies!

It is a struggle trying to contain my enthusiasm…and not try to do what I did back in 2006!

My age may have increased, max heart rate decreased, stamina and pace decreased, but my obsessive personality remains the same.

Jessica-Red…sorry to hear about your health. I’ll have a word with Dr. Erg…!

I most definitely remember you well, Paul - the legendary Mr Sims and one of the founding fathers!!!
I see you still have a very old picture of us from the Charity Marathon as your C2 Picture - that seems like a very long time ago now!!

You've been rowing well this season (more than I have until recently) - you're right up the meterboard, in the top ten (although it looks like you're not rowing right now), so this is a wake up call!

Maybe we should aim to catch up with Stan in 2026 and see if we can still do a Marathon, 20 years later!

Hi Paul, I certainly remember you. July of 2006 you were kind enough to send me an email inviting me to join. I’ve taken a year here and there off but I’m still here erging. Thank you! Mike M
