Thanks Dave, I think next time I'll set the split distance as 1058m rather than 1057m :D

I did this as a completely pointless rate pyramid today, mainly to try to fool myself into believing this wasn’t a hard effort. A lot slower than last year Image

I may have another crack.

Good to get one in Jon! I was going to leave this until the end of the month, as I had work travel and stuff messing up my routine, but got back home yesterday after a week away to half the (fully vaccinated) household down with you know what. Figuring it's only a matter of time until it gets me too, I thought I'd better get a time in. Alas, I forgot to put my hair up properly - and the spiky variation in pace/rate about 16:40 is a (quite long) plait getting dragged under the seat rollers, and then again a few minutes later (!!!). The violent jerking back of one's head is a good reminder to sit up straight  (It is not a regular occurrence, but also not the first time it has happened to me - it's not something they mention in the technique videos...). On the other hand, I am defo getting fitter despite all the chaos. It was worth an adjusted score of just over 90. Sure it won't stay that way as the big guns put their times in, but it's nice if only temporary.

...and I thought getting my T-shirt caught under the rollers was bad. Yoikes - hair, that'll wake you up!

Well done on getting to the finish on that one...

Some great efforts so far and ouch with the hair! Glad that is something I do not have a problem with :D

Not quite sure how I managed this today, been feeling under the weather, had two really bad sprint efforts earlier this month and my mojo has gone for a wander!. Managed to beat my previous best by 40 seconds and adjusted over 91 is probably going to be my best score

Now to rest and regroup before the 5km in December

Thanks everyone. We have a full boat for the month which is great news. No nagging at all from me! =D> =D> ^O^ ^O^ :D :D

At the moment we also have the top scoring boat for the month, giving us 100 points. Note, I did say "at the moment"  . I'm sure the big guns are saving some efforts for the next few days.

As expected, we were pushed from 100 points to 91, which is higher than last month but lower than September.

Onwards to the very testing 5K (gulp).

Two weeks of the month remaining and just two rowers having completed the distance this month. No prizes for guessing it is both of our most reliable early submitters - Philip and Plummy. =D>

My plan is to row this ahead of Christmas if the side-effects of my booster aren’t major, or in between Christmas and New Year if necessary.

Don’t leave it too late folks [-o< [-o<

It's in my plan 👍 not going to be my fastest effort 😔

I'm in sprint mode at the moment so it might help January if I do it early 😁😁

Re booster Jon. I thought I had no reaction. But then I looked at my ANS results. It definitely trimmed my top 5/10% of effort for 10 or more days.

I hoped to wake up feeling fresh and ready for this, but the opposite so very pleased with the time, 24 second PB, would have loved sub 19, but did not have it today

Well done on the PB Chris. =D> =D> =D>

I have decided this is definitely one for after Christmas. No side effects from the booster (unlike my wife who was knocked sideways), but taking it easy until the other side of the festivities.

That's a cracker Chris - huge shame about the 0.8s but you can't knock a 24s PB =D> =D>

Given my fitness levels and the fact I have not done a mid-distance set-piece for months, this was never going to be pretty, but I was shocked at how bad this was!

Targets:
(1) Don't die - I am writing this, so that's a pass
(2) Don't stop - looking at the pace, it almost counts as stopped!
(3) Don't puke - I almost failed this one too.

At least I put in a time for the team, but let's just say I won't be the strongest seat in the boat!

Thanks to all who have put in a time. We currently have seven seats filled. Just one more effort needed to fill the boat for the month [-o< [-o<

Well done everyone & Jon !! Glad to hear you survived 😎 I'm sure someone will pull through before the new year 👍

My effort wasn't as painful as I thought it might be. Luckily I've started back doing the dreaded 6x1ks a few weeks ago 👍

Looking forward to having a full out attempt on the 1 minute for January 🙂

I was feeling a bit like Jon. Sick at start of month (not COVID), booster, 10 days overseas work travel, jetlag, determined to put feet up over Xmas (did) and then 5k after almost a month off the erg. Tried 2 days ago at 6344m pace (from last month): HD after 2k  Tried again today, also aiming (1) to finish, (2) not to puke. wasn’t fast, wasn’t pretty, but we’re afloat! Happy New Year teammates

Getting one in the bank for this month, hopefully will revisit later in the month when less fatigued from running, seasons best, but another 15m needed for a PB

Me again!

5 times entered and 4 remaining this month with just over a week to go.

Thanks to all who have entered a distance. I plan to blast through mine tomorrow mid-UT2 session.

I’ve a few ‘niggles’ (prob from doing sod all in December and then jumping straight back in) so giving it as long as poss for them to settle down. It’s a bit of a departure from my normal steady rows... But I shan’t forget. Just hoping to be feeling youthful by next week  and able to pull hell for leather (which is what this challenge seems to require!) . Louise

Louise - any distance is a point scoring distance

I had a go today. 308 was better than my last effort for the CTC. So this was a SB but still way off my PB.

On reflection I set off too easy and felt I had more to give at the end. But it’s done now at least.

Mine's in. Also short of my best, but still snuck into the 90s (for now). I didn't find it as exhausting as I remember (should have gone harder!) but I was at 38 spm so I'm not sure how I could have have actually got more speed out of the erg at current strength. Happy enough.

I think we are still one person short of a full boat...
