January ctc - actual poll

Post by Grobi »

Hi everyone,

the discussion about the January ctc has led to three popular suggestions: 5k, 6k and 30 mins. This poll determines our final choice and runs until coming Friday (Dec 17th). You have one vote which you can alter if you change your mind.

So we have decided on a 6k for the January ctc. I'm going to let Dougie know, but do we want to give it a fancy name? Any suggestions?

the "intentionally unspiritual 6k" look at your last result in march and be better !

make 1 out of 2 : "An intentionally unspiritual 6k is still a 6k, treat it like a 5k and beat your oarsome time from last year to celebrate the new year"

i also opted for the 6k...and find it a great distance- i only call it unspiritual to have the word spirit in the name and as an excuse for not offering a "spiritual" bunch of queer intervals - so we are intenionally "bodenständig" (down-to earth)...and offering a ranking piece...everyone can spin their own fantasy...and row their own queer intervals for themselfs...this time i am "bodenständig" ;-)

or...to just look at it in a positive way: "Have a spiritual NEW YEARs 6k to beat your oarsome time from last year and celebrate the new year"

shorter ?

"Have a spiritual NEW YEARs 6k to beat your oarsome time from last year!"
or just: "Have a spiritual NEW YEARs 6k to beat your oarsome time!" (some wont get that...so i am for the upper)

feedback ? Alternative ? ich habe fertig !

"The spiritual NEW YEARs 6k to beat your oarsome time!" not shorter...I could write a long sentence with lots of ,,, like Schopenhauer...but I am not a writer...

i couldnt let it go to present the long version, sorry guys, your silence is provoking me

Dear C2ctc community, we from freespiritsrowing wish you all a happy new year 2022 and immediately an attempt to improve your oarsome 6km performance from last year, so that you have in the new year right at the beginning a wonderful Timetrial in which you can fully spend, you your pain, your heart rate, the sweat, the blood in the adrenaline-soaked vessels to the highest of the highest range of your possible capacity, in which you at the last rowing strokes, when your PM counts the last meters, you then full of joy at reaching the magic zero in the full awareness of the state of emergency only one thought may pass through your head: it is finished !

I agree, though I prefer the longer version. The dark days after New Year's Eve, the omikron variant, I think people have lost of time tot read it of they want.

Very nice that there have been a few more responses !Of course I also agree with Carol's short version, my long text was more meant for reflection on our part and not for publishing on the ctc site, that a simple timetrial can represent the circle of life, alpha-omega, beginning and ending of life....

Dear all,
Happy to finally see again a reasonable CTC. The recent ones have not been very sensible and healthy IMHO.
Really looking forward to start the new year with a proper CTC score for FS. Has been a while ;-)

What has become of the once mighty FM fleet? They have floated a single boat so far this month...

Thanks Claudius!
Not sure what happened to FM, but as I am following a personalized training I haven’t been fully engaged in the CTC lately.
Especially when it has such a weird setup as a rate limited TT format, which is destined to cause back injuries.
But I also believe that many struggle with access to an erg due to Covid.
And maybe like me many try to avoid Facebook. Actually left all rowing related groups this weekend.

Interesting ! I also deactivated facebook...for probably other reasons, why do people want to stay away from FB ? I have nothing against FB...except that I was sent to my "underworld" with "images of FB"...which is why I leave it mostly deactivated now...
