Re: 2021 Weight Loss thread
Nice one Paul - looks like your body is trying to tell you that you are at your happy weight
After 6 months of disciplined eating I felt I needed to let my hair down for a week and ate quite a bit
Did manage to get in about 80km on the rower, pretty much all at DF 350 so I have the vain hope that my weight gain this week is all muscle
Not unexpectedly, I am up just over 1 kg but confident I will get back on track and reverse this gain.
I am only going to record weekly results for the last 4 weeks and prior to that I am going to have a monthly record.

Paul, I am sure you will do it, you just want to celebrate 90kg again

Not what I wanted to hear Jon, but you are right.
I went for a rump steak blastout this week in order to keep my protein level optimal but it had no adverse effect as I am under 90kg 3 weeks in a row now losing a further massive 100g

Re: 2021 Weight Loss thread
Last weigh-in of the 2021 rowing season - slightly up but still below the magical 90kg barrier - not too much rowing this week but 75km walking over the last 2 days - really enjoying exploring the island on foot.

Re: 2021 Weight Loss thread
Hello folks,
A month without rowing, due to some back, shoulder and knee pain. Also, back at school for two weeks, which was incredibly tiring, and then back to virtual teaching as the situation in Cali and the department (Valle del Cauca) is getting much worse. ICU occupancy is at 95.7%, we are in red alert. So, school was suspended last week, then we had riots following a national strike on Wednesday - looting, pulling of speed cameras down, general damage. Very understandable - people do not have much there is a push to reform the tax legislation which will hit a lot of people really hard. So, stuck at home with the girls and Sonia.
With the new rowing year starting today I tried the Marathon - that was a slight misjudgement on my part, got to within 7900m and facing another 50 minutes of rowing at the pace I was going at just did me in. Still got a good row in and will be more focussed this month, especially becauase my older brother Marek, is getting his new concept 2 D model (renamed Erg) on Wednesday. So I will introduce to him to Free Spirits and probably get him on this forum, as he needs to lose weight and get fitter.
Been a bit static on the weight front, but clothes are getting looser and I can fit into shirts I have not worn for many years (+10 years at least!). Aiming for sub 100kg by my 50th, and 90ish by October, a year from when I started this Odyssey.

Re: 2021 Weight Loss thread
Thanks Peter, Kevin, Steve, Woj.
Well done on your weight loss so far Woj, well over 20 kg already.
The island in question is the Isle of Wight - we moved here in 2016 and love it here.
When my wife has weekend work shifts I take the opportunity to do some long walks , normally between 20 and 40 km - my legs are definitely getting much stronger from the effort and I have had the chance
to see some beautiful areas - the terrain and vegetation is quite diverse for such a small island so there is a lot to see

Re: 2021 Weight Loss thread
Well done to everyone on your weight loss.
I haven't posted on this thread in over a month and unfortunately, I have been going in the wrong direction and I'm now back in the red zone. I had got into the habit of drinking nearly every night and I decided that I needed to cut back and have managed to do so for the past few weeks. But I overcompensated by eating too much junk food, with entirely predictable consequences.
I'm going to start posting weekly updates again and I hope that this will help to keep me on the straight and narrow.

Re: 2021 Weight Loss thread
Nice going Woj - for me, a hectic work week leading to very little training and bad eating - crept back over 90kg but am not too worried - going to get back to the right side of 90kg but it feels like my optimum weight is around 88kg at the lowest, if I want to retain enough strength and muscle mass.

Re: 2021 Weight Loss thread
Thanks Kevin - feeling strong at this weight - have upped the food intake a bit as I have upped the rowing distances and been doing long(30k+) walks on the weekends.

Re: 2021 Weight Loss thread
Nice one, Woj - that 100kg barrier is looming.
For me, a busy work week and did not have a chance for my daily walks, or too much rowing.
Put on a bit, but nothing too calamitous that can't be reversed!!

Re: 2021 Weight Loss thread
Hi all,
thought I'd share a, hopefully, positive tale to maintain the encouragement on this theme.
I've never really been obese and generally maintained a decent level of fitness. In Jan/Feb I did some Pete Plan sessions and recorded 6:57 for the annual 2k test.
However, hovering @ 93kg there was still a noticeable spare tyre around the belly. A love of beer and wine will do that
I've always "suffered" from internal fat around the inner organs (visceral fat), which is different to that general belly fat most folks tend to put on under the skin (subcutaneous fat). This can be harmful long term and over the years I've tried unsuccessfully to understand it and particularly why I'm affected (we are all different).
Anyway, in Feb I finally found someone who could explain it in a way I could understand and I signed up with her for an 8 week program for March and April.
The program included a daily meal plan and daily exercise plan. Measurements taken weekly to track progress.
The good news is that it worked very well.
Weight dropped @1kg per week from 92 to 82kg and the important waist line measurement went from 101cm to 92cm.
Most of the meal plan is nothing new (little dairy, no saturated fat, no refined sugars, no alcohol etc) but the biggest thing for me was noticing the portion control. Even at half my normal plate size, eating 5 times a day every 3hrs (snacks between 3 main meals) keeps the body in 'stasis' and blood sugars even and one never feels hungry.
I guess what I'm trying to say is that given the will we can all achieve something. So keep doing what you are doing folks, it's great reading

Re: 2021 Weight Loss thread
Well done wolfie and all the rest of you on your weight loss.
I said that I was going to start posting weekly updates again in the hope that this would help to keep me on the straight and narrow. Unfortunately, I have failed in both objectives and I'm now at my highest weight in about four years.
So it's back to the drawing board for me. And away from the buffet table!

Re: 2021 Weight Loss thread
I'm going to try to weigh in on the same day each week in order to provide a like for like comparison. Seeing as how I tend to misbehave to a greater extent over the weekend than during the week, doing it on a Monday morning is probably a good way to try to keep me honest.
Small improvement this week, but still in the red zone.

Re: 2021 Weight Loss thread
Amazing weight loss over the last few months Wolfie.Paul Victory wrote: ↑Mon May 24, 2021 11:07 am I'm going to try to weigh in on the same day each week in order to provide a like for like comparison. Seeing as how I tend to misbehave to a greater extent over the weekend than during the week, doing it on a Monday morning is probably a good way to try to keep me honest.

Well done Paul - moving in the right direction again.
That 0.9kg that you didn't want - well I've taken it this week
Another really busy work week and rubbish weather(my erg is outside) led to bad eating and not much exercise, so not too disappointed(or surprised) by the expected weight gain.
